Before Farideh took a devil's pact, before she was Chosen by the god-king of the Hells, before any of this started, there was Bryseis Kakistos, the original Brimstone Angel, first of Farideh's line. Now, at the end, there is also Bryseis Kakistos - but this time, instead of helping the king of the Hells achieve godhood, she's going to kill him. All she needs is a little help from Farideh - which she should, by all accounts, be happy to give. After all, who could object to killing the king of the Hells?

In the 2nd book of the multi-author Sundering series launched by New York Times best-selling author R.A. Salvatore, the shadow legacy of Erevis Cale lives on even as his old foe Mephistopheles seeks to stamp it out at any cost. Cale’s son Vasen - unmoored in time by the god Mask - has thus far been shielded from the archdevil’s dark schemes, alone among the servants of the Lord of Light who have raised him since birth. Living in a remote abbey nestled among the Thunder Peaks of Sembia, Vasen is haunted by dreams of his father, trapped in the frozen hell of Cania.

Split between time and two worlds, Zaknafein had always been conflicted. That inner turmoil was magnified by his inferior position as a male dark elf in the matriarchal drow society. Only his status as one of the greatest warriors - as well as his friendship with the mercenary Jarlaxle - kept him sane. When he finally perished, he was content knowing he left behind a legacy as substantial as his son, Drizzt. Except...someone isn’t ready for Zaknafein to be dead. And now he’s back, hundreds of years later, in a world he doesn’t recognize.

Publisher's Summary
In a direct follow-up to her fourth book in the Brimstone Angels series, Fire in the Blood, Erin M. Evans thrusts her signature character, Farideh, into a fast-paced murder mystery rife with political intrigue.
In the wake of the war brought on by the Sundering, Farideh's adopted father, Mehen, has been called back by the clan that cast him out, and Farideh and Havilar mean to go with him. Just as Mehen confronts the head of his former clan, a clutch of young dragonborn is found in the catacombs brutally murdered, an infernal summoning circle that looks all too familiar to Farideh nearby.

Sorting All The Relationships
This and the next book are really a part 1 and 2 of a story. Not that the others are less connected. As far as the reading goes, people have got to give the reader direction on uncommon, or fantasy words, otherwise the person listening has to puzzle out what's being said (falchion in previous books are a big one, but lich in this one). The family and cultural values of each group are on full display on each thread being followed.

How Many God & Demons Does 1 Need?
The entire series started off STRONG & Interesting. However, when this book began, the author starting dropping in new characters, all with their own Gods/Demons each was tethered to. When the author started bringing in multiple Ancient gods, never mentioned before this book, the entire story line became a jumble of unpronounceable names, locations and languages. I feel like I've been listening to an entirely new alien language that the author doesn't bother to explain. I don't think finding out how the story ends is that important anymore. This book, alone, has ruined the entire story for me. I already have the final book, but will NOT be reading it. . TY

MORE! PLEASE, MORE!!
What made the experience of listening to Ashes of the Tyrant the most enjoyable?
Everything. I have read or listened to all the available Brimstone Angels novels, and I absolutely love them all. I just wish Audibles still had the first two books available to buy:-((
What did you like best about this story?
EVERYTHING. Its edge of your seat stuff, and leaves you breathlessly wanting more.
What about Dina Pearlman’s performance did you like?
Ms Pearlman does an excellent job of narrating these books, giving richness, drama and humour to these wonderful stories. I admire her command of the Draconic tongue. Not at all easy to speak. I hope she managed to get the knots out of her tongue, and I hope that she will be available to narrate any future Brimstone Angel books.
Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
There were many laugh out loud moments in this, and the other Brimstone Angels books, and I was gripping the edge of my seat when certain characters came face to face.
Any additional comments?
I really hope Audibles will consider reinstalling the first two books in this awesome series. I know they can be read individually, but I for one would love to have the whole series to listen to.

Brimstone Angels has consumed me
I am in love with this series, I can not express how much the characters mean to me, and being with them every moment keeps me anxious to know what happens next. Spoiler: Characters you hate become friends and friends become unwilling enemies.
