Publisher's summary

Robert Evans' The Kid Stays in the Picture is universally recognized as the greatest, most outrageous, and most unforgettable show business memoir ever written. The basis of an award-winning documentary film, it remains the gold standard of Hollywood storytelling.

With a new introduction by the legendary actor, producer, and Hollywood studio chief Robert Evans, The Kid Stays in the Picture is driven by a voice as charming and irresistible as any great novel.

An extraordinary raconteur, Evans spares no one, least of all himself. Filled with starring roles for everyone from Ava Gardner to Marlon Brando to Sharon Stone, The Kid Stays in the Picture is sharp, witty, self-aggrandizing, and self-lacerating in equal measure.

Great Insight into Hollywood

The book lived up to its hype. I’ve heard about this book for many years now and finally got around to listening to it. Luckily, Bob Evans narrates it as only he could and should. You can feel the love and eagerness as well as disdain for all that is his life and Hollywood. Anyone curious about a great man, his rise, his fall, and just the movies in general should give the book a listen.

Inside Hollywood

Some interesting inside stories about some of the most famous movies ever made by a man who himself was apparently brilliant and a bit crazy at the same time

Amazing

This book was fantastic. Having Robert Evans narrate his own story made it feel to me like he was in the room with me telling me a story, which he was in a way. I highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys tales of Hollywood.

Fun

This is a fun and wild ride through a life of someone that has contributed so much to the industry that I have been apart of most of my life.

Wow, what a life!

Tinsle Town as only an insiders insider could tell it, a fascinating look at the Hollywood of the last half of the 20th century. Rags to riches, and back again...and again!

Amazing personality and life

I did not read the book and can only comment on the Audible Version---I loved it. Evans' reading his own book is a joy. Some state he seemed 'wooden' but I thought he did a nice job portraying the various characters in his life. Amazing story of his rescue of Paramount and the simply wonderful movies (many) he helped bring to the screen. So worth the time to listen to this amazing personality

Fantastical Reality

The insanity of personalities, big money, luck, creativity, narcissism, family, love, and sex as told by Robert Evans, not only larger than life, but who was and is Hollywood itself.

The Kid definitely stays in the picture!

Evans narrates his book with the swagger of a 1920's wiseguy, I experienced every profanity laced big office, backstage, fuck it! back-alley Hollywood deal with him. This is an eye opening piece of literature that I recommend to anyone looking to get a peek at"behind the scenes" Hollywood from the proverbial horse himself.

Hollywood Tales

I remember listening to this audiobook when it was released in the mid-90s—I had read an article about how then-current Hollywood players listened to it to pump themselves up for studio meetings and played it as background noise at parties. Did I love it? You’d better believe I did.
When Robert Evans passed away recently, I wanted to hear it again, and it was every bit as good as I remembered. Does he exaggerate? I’m sure, but the stories are highly entertaining, and it’s a great listen.
