"Turned me into a time traveller...."

I really felt I was living in Mississippi in 1962 while I was listening to this book. If I didn't have my earbuds in the story was going round and round in my head, my family lost me for about a week. The story flows really well and the narration is the most beauiful thing about the book. I want Aibileen in my life and I want to have a baby just so I can call her Maymobili and I want someone to call me "Baby" just the way that Stuart Whitworth calls Skeeter "Baby", but I am so glad that I live in a, hopefully, more enlightened age. I also loved that the ending was hopeful without being sugary. This book is an amazing listen.

    "Don't miss this book"

Both the writing and the narration were effortless. I totally agree with the person below who said "Time Traveler" - I feel like I've existed in two places at once for the few weeks or so that I've been listening to this novel. This is a compassionate and redemptive story and my only regret is that it's over.

    "Amazing Dramatisation"

Apart from the fact that this is a lovely story, I was blown away by the dramatisation of the text... it wasn't a reading at all; it was an artistic production. It was so well done, that I almost felt I was watching a film... the acting was so professional that I could "see" everything that was happening. I just couldn't stop listening, and like any good film, I'll be going to it again and again.

    "The Help"

This story was just great. The narraters did a fabulous job, made the characters very beleivable with the accents. I just couldn't stop listening, it really had me enthralled, but i must say i was a little dissappointed with the ending, but mostly just because I wanted to know what happened further down the track, to me it seemed to end quite suddenly. But all in all a great book, very highly recomended.

"One of the Best Books I've Ever Read"

I dithered for a long while about buying The Help because books so often don't live up to their hype and because I was afraid it was just going to play the emotional card be a tear jerker. This one really does live up to the hype and while it is very emotional in just about every way you can think of, it's in a good way. You come out of it in the end wishing you could meet the characters and either hug them, or give them a piece of your mind and then some. It's a great story, well written and well narrated. I just don't think there's enough good that can be said about this book. Well done Kathryn Stockett. Well done narrators.

This is one of the best books I have heard, the narration by four actors is simply beautiful and the story so gripping I couldn't stop listening.

    "The Help was fantastic!!"

I cannot praise this book highly enough!!
Each character was read so well that I was both thrilled and amazed. I did not think before buying it that all the characters would be played out as well but I was pleasantly surprised. I warmed to the characters from the opening lines. I went through a series of emotions while reading this as it is so thought provoking and touching and funny and awful at the same time. When I say it is awful I mean details of the way people were treated were awful but I recommend everyone to read this.I had read the book previous to this and I can say this book told the story very well. The character of Minnie is hilarious and you cant help smile listening to her being portrayed on here. I could just picture her in my head so easily as she sarcastically answered back .In fact all the main characters are really great. Please go buy this book as it is a really really great story .

    "Brilliant!"

I loved this as an audio book! I can struggle with accents (even in my head) and it was wonderful to hear the deep southern american accent being read to me so beautifully.

    Would highly recommend.

    "Amazing"

I strongly recommend this book. The story defies genre preferences. I'm a passionate Sci-FI girl (maybe 1 in 10 of my audiobooks are outside Sci-Fi) and I couldn't get enough of this book. I was sad when the book ended because I wanted to story to go and on and on and on..... I've talked three of my friends into downloading this book just so we could discuss and dissect it. Its wonderful and amazing.

    "Brilliant"

I loved this book. It is superbly written and superbly narrated. The multiple narratives are easy to follow and the stories of the women are absorbing and feel as if they could easily be authentic. I was engrossed from beginning to end and very sorry when it was over. Highly recommended.

    "2 slice pie"

I loved this book, I'm a child of the fifties who grew up in working class Glasgow and I remember when Kennedy was shot, I knew little of the USA but I sure is glad I 'aint nothin like some of those deep south women. I loved Abeline, Minnie and Miss Cecilia I could identify with them. Folks, do yourself a favour and down load this book, it's beautiful, sad, funny and very, very moving. Thank you Miss Kathryn Stockett and for the beautiful narrators. I'll be looking out for your other books.

"an audiobook makes a difference here"

Aside from loving the story and the way it is structured, I found it extremely fun to listen to. The narrators are doing an excellent job with the accents and they made me feel like I was really there in the book listening to a real help, nonetheless for Skeeter and Hilly, all of the characters are suberply performed. The listening was a much more awarding way of going thorugh this book than reading.

The characters came to life with the superb narration and thought provoking storyline. The social history of 1960's deep south kept me listening.

Easy 5-star rating for this one. Enjoyed this audiobook more than the film for certain. I wish more audiobooks had this level of production value, with multiple narrators.
