Very passionatlly read

I really enjoyed this book.
The detail and length are encyclopedic. In my opinion this just shows the author's love for the subject and his caring for those that will read this book.
There are passion and experience in his voice that turn a potentially dry and dusty topic into an interessting chat with a long time and trusted friend.
Easily worth twice the number of stars.

Spot on! a textbook for aspiring artists.

As a music producer with 15 years of experience I plan on recommending this book to all my clients. Much of the book is filled with relevant wisdom and experiences I found similar to my own. This compilation of insight could save an artist 10 years of trial and error on the way to a stable career in the music business.

Must listen for local bands and musicians!

This book is great! I would have to say that a lot of people don't think of the business of music all the way through. Loren does a great job of giving a detailed crash course on how to be a responsible musician. If there is anything about your music and the business of music that confuses you or seems like it's in this unknown abyss that is for managers and labels to take care of, then you need to read or listen to this book! Even if you don't handle everything yourself, you need to know what is expected of the people that do handle a certain area of your music. Don't let sketchy and cricked "industry professionals" take advantage of you! Like Loren says in the book,"put the same effort into your music business plan, as you put into your music it's self!"

so much waffle and common sense

really struggling to find anything in the first 86 chapters that isn't common sense or just really vague and related purely to attitude and behavioural problems. might be worthwhile for very young people and those who are just about to start out but as someone with only a few years in the industry I honestly can't bring myself to finish this in the vague hope that there might be a handful of things that might be beneficial to my progression.

Interesting and Insightful

Would you consider the audio edition of The Artist's Guide to Success in the Music Business (2nd edition) to be better than the print version?

Yes, have the audio version narrated by Loren Weisman means that emphasis is given correctly to certain parts and some of the (cheesy) jokes are a little more humorous.

Who was your favorite character and why?

There were no characters per say, however I found the true life accounts of people Loren had come into contact with very interesting.

What about Loren Weisman’s performance did you like?

The way he really put across the amount of hard work and determination is needed during each part of the musicians journey.

If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

What does success mean to you?

Any additional comments?

Though some parts of this book could come across simplistic and basic, it provides much deeper analysis into party of the music industry that most newcomers wouldn't even consider. If you take the experience that is on show here, and use it to better yourself, this could end up being one of the most influential books you'll ever read.
