Austen’s classic tale of love and values in the class-conscious England of the late 18th century is her most beloved. The story follows Elizabeth Bennet, one of five sisters, as she deals with issues of manners, upbringing, morality, education, and marriage in landed-gentry society. One of the most popular novels of all time. Has been adapted to countless variations for the screen.

Story
The doorbell rings, just days after my beloved husband’s sudden death. I don’t recognise the woman on our doorstep, with her blonde highlights, a diamond bracelet identical to my own and a bouncing baby boy in her arms. As I show her inside, I notice her eyes grow wide as she takes in our spacious hallway, and the big squashy sofas that we all used to pile on. She glances at the silver-framed family photos and my little daughter hiding behind my skirts. She looks at me, her blue eyes serious. ‘I’m sorry’ she says. ‘I am your husband’s girlfriend. And this is his son.'

When the call came it seemed like the answer to my prayers. My career as a voice actor had been over for months and me and my little girl Scarlet were living back at my mum’s place. I felt like a failure professionally—and with Scarlet having problems at school, as a parent as well. So, when I was asked to narrate a new book by disappeared novelist Philippa Roberts I jumped at the chance, even if it meant leaving Scarlet with my ex, Hugo, for a few weeks. Story
My darling little boy Albie adores playing at our new neighbours’ house. And after the terrible year we’ve had, I feel so lucky that we can start over in this perfect place, with new friends who treat Albie like the son they never had. He can’t stop talking about the tree house they’re building him, and the cookies they bake together. But as time passes, something starts to feel wrong. Why don’t they ever open the front door more than a crack? They told me they had no children so who does the small pink tricycle I saw in their hall belong to?

Review of To Kill A Mocking Bird
First of all I purchased this book mistakenly thinking that it is a book read by Stephen Colbert & others. Granted it is my fault may be not to have read what was being offered more carefully. All the same I think there was some confusion in how Audible presented the option, the graphics etc.
Worse than that, the panel was worse than any discussion that one may have heard in a grade school class room. The questions from the audience were not audible, only the answers were.. overall very disappointed! Next time I buy a book, I want the real thing - A good reading of the book not the chit chat that I paid for..

Deja Vu
If you would like to re-live the grueling academic circle-jerk of a LIT.101 "discussion group," this is a little better. In the end, I resent this recording even more because it pours gasoline on my already burning desire to revisit this book.

not what it seems
I wish I would have read reviews before purchasing the "book". I was looking for the book it self and this was not what it seems.

Misleading
The sample leads the listener to believe this is the actual book. It is not clear that it is only commentary.

THIS IS NOT THE BOOK--rip-off
Audible is supposed to be a site to get BOOKS in audible form.
THIS IS A GROUP OF LIBERALS TALKING ABOUT THE BOOK.

Program Type: Speech, isn't misleading
Not sure why this received negative reviews from those who were looking and thinking they purchased the audiobook.....the program type clearly states it's a Speech, as most symphonyspace productions are. And the summary describes it as follows: The evening includes readings, discussion and audience Q&A. Performance playlist: Readings and conversation with Kurt Andersen, Libba Bray, Stephen Colbert, Oskar Eustis, Mary McDonagh Murphy, Jayne Anne Phillips, and Isaiah Sheffer, a discussion with the audience. We used this with a class studying Harper Lee and To Kill a Mockingbird and found it very informative.
