Tapping into a particular genius...

Thanks for audible UK for making this interview widely available so we can hear directly from Richard where his mind goes in the approach of his narrated works.

It was interesting to hear the perplexity in investigating the split between two consciousness's. In finding how it gave him and the producer surprise pause, gives one opportunity to go back and listen those conflicts of dark and light in the bloom of the revelation. It becomes a thicker and richer piece in the heavier burden of the man fighting against his own nature and in all ways losing the battle.

As for using up his "bag of voices" the timber of Richard's tones, pitch and speed with the overall delivery varies his characters enough. I can give an example, even if you can pick out similarities in Stevenson's Jekyll/Hyde's Dr. Lanyon which strikes resemblance to Heyer's The Convenient Marriage's Marcus the Earl of Rule, you do not confuse the two nor lose the story as separate pieces.

On the contrary, for me, it adds a warmth of familiarity to these audible pieces because it brings us to a point where if we were sitting down to read a good book our own inner monologue tells us the tale and supplies all voices.

Enjoyable interview!

Divine Richard Armitage

Wonderful interview with the divine Richard Armitage. His beautiful, dulcet tones are a joy to listen to. I’ve been a fan since he was Sir Guy of Gisbourne on the show Robin Hood.

Is it any wonder Richard Armitage is an absolute favorite of so many

Not just an incredibly smooth voice and an almost unmatched ability to convey personality of each and every character, he manages to capture the intellectual intent of the author and remains true... is this why I have a such huge crush on him? Probably 🤗

Intelligence and erudition personified!

Mr. Armitage never fails to fascinate me with his ideas on life and literature, not to mention the effect of those deep, melting tones in his voice. Sorry, I'm just plain addicted.....definitely my drug of choice and unlike Dr Jekyll's, it doesn't turn me into a monster.....well I don't think so ?
