Publisher's summary

Following the release of his best-selling autobiography, Believe Me: A Memoir of Love, Death and Jazz Chickens, Eddie Izzard spoke to us about history, politics, books... and funky poultry.

As a transgender artist, Eddie explains how a steadfast ambition has helped him to overcome discrimination and prejudice, long enough to make it in the world of Hollywood. Now a hugely successful comedian and actor who's starred alongside the likes of Dame Judi Dench, George Clooney and Julia Roberts, Eddie takes a look back at his favourite roles and co-stars.

Eddie has also always been a firm supporter of the Labour party and, in this interview, hints at pursuing a future as a member of parliament – a well thought-out plan which he delves into further in his audiobook.

Written and performed in the keenly intelligent, wholly honest and predictably hilarious style that we have come to expect from Eddie, his audiobook Believe Me has been hailed by critics for its commentary on historical and sexual politics, mad ancient kings and chickens with guns. A critic wrote of it:

"Izzard is one of the funniest people alive, a talented actor, a sharp cross-dresser, an experienced marathon runner, and a great writer. You will have to read this if only to find out what a jazz chicken is." (The Philadelphia Inquirer)

Eddie is wonderful. this is not .

This talk rambles and is difficult to follow. It is not his humor. He's a funny guy but this is just an interview.

10 minutes long, all about the audiobook

If I'd known what it was, I wouldn't have bothered. It's just an ad for what they want you to pay for.

Eddie is so cool even penguins shiver.

Short. Sweet. Lovely.

I was fine listening until he told the last little story about getting the letter. Then it was instant waterworks. I always appreciate Eddie's open honestly

Eddie Izzard….😘

I just discovered this performer after listening to an audiobook by Rhyannon Styles. Lovely! He sounds funny and heartfelt and genuine. I now have his autobiography in my Wish List, after listening to the sample for it….☺️

Short & Sweet

I Love Eddie Izzard, but I didn't find the content held my interest for the full 10 minutes
Although I loved the piece about the letter to his Father or from his Dad about him coming out & how his Dad said he was fine with it & if Eddie's Mum was still with us she'd be fine with it too. I adore hearing of the older generationbeing accepting of children of LGBTIQM+ persuasion. Or any parent accepting a child. Love is love, everyone deserves respect even if their sexual preference differ to others & happiness is for all!

I love Eddies comedy, his storytelling

Eddie is an excellent storyteller. I loved him as a transvestite, and love him as a trans person.
and he was good as the professor in The Unites States of Tara.

A short, sweet, informative vignette

I just wanted a quick listen and this was it. I found him very interesting though I never knew of the name Eddie Izzard before now. I love that his parents embraced him unconditionally.
