Publisher's Summary

Rick Riordan is the best-selling author of the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series and the Kane Chronicles. His latest book, The Lost Hero, is the first in a new series – The Heroes of Olympus. He recently chatted with Audible Editor Diana Dapito about his new book and his career as an author, and revealed which of his characters are his favorites.

About The Lost Hero:
After saving Olympus from the evil Titan lord, Kronos, Percy and friends have rebuilt their beloved Camp Half-Blood, where the next generation of demigods must now prepare for a chilling prophecy of their own:

Seven half-bloods shall answer the call,
To storm or fire the world must fall.
An oath to keep with a final breath,
And foes bear arms to the Doors of Death.

Now, in a brand-new series from blockbuster best-selling author Rick Riordan, fans return to the world of Camp Half-Blood. Here, a new group of heroes will inherit a quest. But to survive the journey, they'll need the help of some familiar demigods.

Listen to The Lost Hero.

Rick Riordan Speaks

Where does An Interview with Rick Riordan rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Because it was so brief, and because I haven't read his books, the interview gave me llittle to go on in terms of choosing books to read. I would say it ranks below all of the audiobooks I have heard to date.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

I would have lengthened it, and included excerpts from several of his stories to give listeners a sense of the range of his books.

Which character – as performed by Diana Dapito – was your favorite?

I actually don't recall that part of the interview ?? I did hear a young sounding woman interviewing Rick, but didn't realize that she was playing a role...

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes

Any additional comments?

I found Rick's voice easy to listen to. He is no doubt an effective speaker with student groups.

Fun conversation with the author.

For fans of his books, it's nice to hear a conversation with the man himself. He talks about his writing process, his former job as a junior high teacher, etc. Nothing earth-shattering, but pleasant enough.

Where did this Man come from?

Mr. Rick Riordan is a bit of a cool genius. Never, ever have a read/listened to a book that melds Greek and Roman legends and lore. This man is a gifted researcher and writer. His books give us a possible look and feel of what the world would be like if the Gods did really exist. He has a gift for creating characters that kids and adults love. Let us hope that he has the level of success that J.K. Rowling has had with the Potter series.

Revealing tidbits and sneaky behind the scenes

Where does An Interview with Rick Riordan rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Honestly, ranking this interview among all my audio books isn't very fair. However, this is one of my favorite interviews. Riordan is one of my favorite authors and this touched upon some of the methods he used to create the stories.

What about Diana Dapito’s performance did you like?

Very energetic performance.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

It IS only 17 minutes long. Hard not to.

Get to know your author.

What was one of the most memorable moments of An Interview with Rick Riordan?

It's great to get to know your author, you should any time you can.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

No. It's pretty run of the mill. I liked hearing how he really thinks like a teacher instead of an author.

Find an interviewer equal to the author

Her pace and questions were painful. Thank heavens Rick Riordan is as engaging a speaker as he is an author it saved the interview.
