Publisher's summary

This audiobook, created by an experienced house call veterinarian whose practice focuses on geriatric pets, teaches you everything you need to know about arthritis in dogs. Whether your best friend is already suffering from joint disease and you want to know what you can do to help or you want to be ready when this all-too-common ailment does occur, this book is for you!

From preventing the development of joint disease to treatment options for all stages of arthritis, Dr. John T. Shokoff discusses:

Proper nutrition for dogs of all ages and sizes

Causes of arthritis in dogs, from hip dysplasia to Lyme disease

How to tell if your best friend is developing arthritis

When it's time to call your veterinarian (and what will happen when you do)

Dr. John's three-pronged approach to treating arthritis in dogs that he has been using successfully for more than 10 years

Arthritis is not curable, and there is no reversing the damage to the joints once it has occurred. Therefore, every day that goes by without properly addressing your pet's arthritis is a day you will never get back. This makes early diagnosis and treatment absolutely essential to success. This book will teach you everything you need to know to achieve that success!

good base knowledge with little to no fan fair

The narrator sounds like a computer but gives decent info. I do wish there was more detailed information in here but it gives a good starting point to speak with your vet. HOWEVER he does neglect to inform on the drastic difference between a general practice veterinarian and a veterinarian specialist in nutrition, physical therapy or sports medicine. Its the same as in people, you wouldn't expect your family GP to be your oncologist or physical therapist. That's additional schooling same as it is for veterinarians.

Extremely informative!

This book is extremely informative and I really enjoyed listening to it. It offers a great structure or plan to help treat your dog. My dog has arthritis I’ll happy to say we’re following this plan so it was a nice confirmation. And I learned a couple of new things as well. However the narration sounds robotic but it’s still definitely worth listening to.

GREAT INFO FOR OWNERS WHO LOVE THEIR BEST FRIENDS

If you could sum up Arthritis In Dogs: Understanding & Treating Canine Degenerative Joint Disease in three words, what would they be?

DOG LOVERS' RELIEF!

Which scene was your favorite?

Best part of the book is when the author shares his experience with his dog.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Really, this audiobook is best used over several listening sessions. Any pet owner will tell you that one of their great frustrations is seeing their beloved pet suffer. In this book, we learn both the warning signs and methods and remedies to address them...helping greatly to diminish their suffering. The author's insights and tips will actually help you reduce the frequency and cost of vet visits! As for the narrator, I was already a fan of Mr. McBride from some of his other audiobooks, and luckily found this one when I looked up his name to see any new titles. His delivery reflects that of an owner's compassion, and an expert's presentation. As an owner myself, I really appreciate that this wonderful book was written and recorded. Thank you!
