Publisher's summary

A full-length standalone romantic comedy from USA Today best-selling author R.S. Grey.

Everyone in Cedar Creek, Texas, knows Jack McNight is an arrogant devil. Physically, I get it: he’s tan and fit, with coal-black hair that’s clearly been scorched by hellfire. Oh, and his personality? It burns just as hot.

When I show up on the doorstep of Blue Stone Ranch, I’m run-down and rockin’ my last pair of underwear. I’m hoping for a savior, but instead, I find him.

My opinion of Jack is marred by a dismal first impression, but his opinion of me is tainted even before I arrive. He’s heard I’m a spoiled princess there to take advantage of his goodwill. To him, I’m more trouble than I’m worth.

Our button-pushing banter should get under my skin. His arrogance should be a major turn-off. Problem is, devils are known to offer their own form of temptation.

Every one of his steely glares sends a shiver down my spine.

Every steamy encounter leaves me reeling.

Sure, it could be the Texas heat messing with my head, but there’s no way I’ll survive the summer without silencing him with a kiss and wrestling him out of those Wranglers.

Who knows...going to bed with the devil might just be the salvation I’ve been looking for all along.

OMG . . . LOVED THIS BOOK

What can I say about this book to truly convey how amazing it was? I do not often get a chance to review a book, but after reading this one I knew that I had to make sure that everyone knows how funny it is.

This was my first R.S. Grey book and I loved it. Aiden Snow is wonderful. I don’t think I have ever listed to any of his narrations. But I can now add him to my list of narrators that I will look for. Aiden’s deep voice made Jack sultry and mysterious, bringing him to life.

Carly Robins always does a great job as a narrator. She brings a vibrancy to her characters. Jack’s grandmother was the best. I loved her interfering in their relationship.

I absolutely loved the story. I loved that Meredith walked away from a life that she realized limited her and led her to blaze a new path, and the path took her to Cedar Creek, Texas. This is a must-read. Funny, engaging and sheerly entertaining.

Entertaining Story!

Once I started listening, I couldn't stop. This story was frustrating at times, and funny at others. This is a riches to rags story, and I couldn't be more pleased on how it developed. At some points I wanted to throttle both main characters, while still rooting for them. There was a special character (shotgun toting grandma) that I loved - she was my favorite. A very entertaining story.

So much fun!

The woman can write a damn good book! I smiled through 90% of the book and when I wasn't smiling I was laughing. Such a great read. Er... or actually listen. I listened to the audiobook. It was fabulous. R.S. Grey has a way of picking the best narrators. They were so good. I loved their voices and delivery. Really well done!

This is a light read, not something to be taken too seriously. I'm not going to nitpick the hell out of every detail and complain about the characters I hated or try to pick apart the abuse aspect (like so many other reviewers want to do).
Fact is, the villains were great villains and the heroes were great heroes. In my opinion, it was perfect. The characters were perfectly imperfect and human. That's what I want. I want to read about imperfect people who don't always say or do the right things. So, yes, Jack was a jerk in the beginning. Guess what--people are jerks in real life.
So, yes, Meredith didn't have a plan when she left. Guess what--people leave bad situations without a plan all the time. It's real life.

Bravo, Ms. Grey! Loved this book! It's a solid 5-star read. Now I'm off to grab Make Me Bad, and then to devour all your other books. Please keep doing what you're doing!

Only because

This gets 4 stars ONLY because it lacked sex. Had it had more in it this would have been a 5 but the author made us wait literally until the end.

Witty and wonderful!

What a fantastically written story! And the narrators were so perfect for the main characters. There was some serious verbal sparring happening between the characters of Meredith and Jack. And we cannot leave out Edith! Such a special brand of prickly she was; truly, the story would not have been the same without her. I really loved the uniqueness of this plot line and could not quit listening to it. If you like a happy ending to a story that makes you smile and feel all warm and fuzzy inside then get this book! It’s sort of a being mean to each other to friends to lovers kind of read and I loved every spicy word.
Kudos to the narrators too! I loved the way they read Meredith and Jack and Edith etc., etc. All of the characters really. Of course, they had a wonderfully written story to work with!❤️

could not get past chapter 1

The female character is so unbelievably idiotic I couldn't even get through the first chapter. Definitely not worth a credit. I would certainly not bother trying to get through this one.

I Need a Cowboy!!!

This was a cute story. The h never got on my nerves, and I loved her sass. The H kind of pissed me off a couple of times because he was so judgmental, but overall I loved him. Ms. Edith was my favorite character, she brought a lot to the story. The only thing that I did not enjoy was the lack of chemistry between the two main characters. Other than that it was funny and sweet.

Pretty good book. Almost YA though. Still funny.

I LOVED the first 75-80 percent of this book! it was funny, well presented and the character development and storyline was AMAZING!!! buuut, about the 78% mark the book wrapped up without spice and then dragged on to the conclusion. Honestly the spicy scene (yep 1.3 spicy scenes total) really could have just been included in the epilogue because everything was wrapped up and done before that even came close to happening and then this would 100% have been a YA book. I love spice and I love romance, and I looove slow burn books, but man, this was too YA for my preference, and I would love to have seen more spice because there were so many opportunities, but maybe the author just wanted a cleaner book- to each their own, no judgement from me. I was confused and kind of skipped through the spicy scene by the end of it because it all felt so rushed and it seems like if the book were longer to give more content to the rest of the plot, the spice probably would have been more naturally included. Definitely fizzled out weirdly for me. This author is bomb though, I'll definitely keep reading all her books! Also, the narrators were deliciously perfect! P.s. Aiden Snow is one of my favorite narrators, so 100% worth the read regardless of the teen vs. adult book content lol

Meh.

The story was only so-so. There really wasn't much romance, and I don't just mean sex--I mean it really just wasn't very romantic or steamy in general. I'm giving three stars because it held my interest enough for me to finish listening, but I think I only stuck it out because I was hoping the best was still yet to come. The author's writing style was good, as were the readers' performances, but I'm not going to stick with this author.
