Publisher's summary

Naasir is the most feral of the powerful group of vampires and angels known as the Seven, his loyalty pledged to the Archangel Raphael. When rumors surface of a plot to murder the former archangel of Persia, now lost in the Sleep of the Ancients, Naasir is dispatched to find him. For only he possesses the tracking skills required - those more common to predatory animals than to man.

Enlisted to accompany Naasir, Andromeda, a young angelic scholar with dangerous secrets, is fascinated by his nature - at once playful and brilliant, sensual and brutal. As they race to find the sleeping archangel before it's too late, Naasir will force her to question all she knows...and tempt her to walk into the magnificent, feral darkness of his world. But first they must survive an enemy vicious enough to shatter the greatest taboo of the angelic race and plunge the world into a screaming nightmare.

ANOTHER EPIC PNR.... & MUCH MUCH MORE

As a huge fan of Nalini Singh's works this was an auto-pre-order because I had every faith that she would deliver yet another riveting listen in this awesome, mind-blowing and ever building series. The Enigma is that yet again NS delivered because she weaved her magic and created a mesmerising plot that was filled with tension, threats, challenges, suspense, twists, turns, danger, destruction and debauchery. Then added the evil characters, the well loved characters and some new characters too to maintain the precarious balance of power that could swing and change at any moment. And built all this around a powerful, touching and sweet love story.

The story of Naasir's beginnings was heartbreaking but through it all he learned to become a beautiful soul, a protector, a warrior, a skilled tactician and, when he saw Andromeda, a loving patient mate. All of NS's romances are unpredictable and their paths were going to lead them to hostile far off lands, to imaginative battles, to pain filled challenges and they stood and fought together through physical, emotional and mental pain to become united. Even through blood oaths and vows they triumphed and together they were victorious. However, the immortal world and its inhabitants are in real danger as strange unnatural forces are coming into play...... Raphael's powers have grown, now there's 11 Archangels, there was a near deadly Ascension, 2 Ancients now walk the Earth, Territories are being threatened or lost, Archangels are choosing sides and the Cascade is gathering momentum..... which means the World is under threat. Where, oh where, will NS take us next? Wherever it is I hope it's soon.

Worth a credit? YES for the wonderful characters, YES for an incredible story, YES for all the interwoven secondary and primary plot lines, YES for the amazing narration from multiple POV's and YES, YES, YES, for the beautiful love story.

Most unforgetable couple of the year

To be honest?
I wasn't looking forward to this one. I couldn't see how Nalini Singh was going to make a delicious hero out of Nasser, the strangely animalistic one of The Seven. Was he intriguing in lead up books? Oh sure. There is no end to Ms. Singh's imagination. But I wasn't seeing it--him as leading romantic male.

But then I didn't see how she was going to make the callous manipulative Dmitri a leading hero, and now he perches at the top of my best-hero-of-all-time of 700 books. And now? Nasser is up there too.
So Ms. Singh has done it again. Its really a great story, fascinating character development that builds over the course of the book, and what I really enjoyed was the determined courtship and the receptive female--none of the usual weird contrived reasons she couldn't go for him. Yet--you have to really wait for Nasser to go back in time to find the missing key to unlock his mate, so you get the delicious slow build they've both been dying for. Its really a wonderful tale.

AND amidst this fabulous romance, we get more intense plot development about the awakening archangels, and yet another white knuckle battle with the incalculably evil Li Juan. I really thought that plot line was on an ending arc, but turns out Ms. Singh's got lots in store for us, a couple new magnificent characters and some shocking new developments with Aiden and "Bluebell" Ilyum (sp?). I've been most curious to see how The Legion and the Primary would develop out, but she's keeping us dangling.

This is not a book to jump into if you are new to the series. In this fantasy/romance genre this is one of the best series out there. You will not regret starting at the beginning.

A++ for both Nalini Singh and Justine Eyre.

Great use of a credit/cash

Would you listen to Archangel's Enigma again? Why?

Yes, it was a truly engrossing story.

What about Justine Eyre’s performance did you like?

The narrator did an excellent job. the pacing was steady throughout & her voice was perfect for the material.

Any additional comments?

When I heard this would be Naasir's book I was ecstatic. I wanted inside that creature's head bad. The consort is not the only one curious about the mystery that is Naasir. That said I just couldn't guess at the type of woman Naasir's mate would be. When the premise was revealed I was surprised to learn his mate would be a scholar. I supposed the author was developing an opposites attract romance, but even opposites need similarities to build a solid foundation. I went ahead & preordered the kindle & audible version, & waited with bated breath for its release. I'm so happy I trusted the author. Naasir & Andy make an excellent couple. The reader could feel the relationship grow from an olfactory attraction to a partnership based on trust & later a romance. Naasir's courtship was long & hard won.
Would I recommend this book? Yes. I wouldn't suggest this book be skipped. Even if Nasir is not inspiring any curiosity in you, It's filed with significant movement in regards to the overall series arc.
Rating: 5 stars
Possible pet-peeves: Andy is a 400 year old virgin.

Filler book....but still good

In this 8th installment of the Guild Hunter series we learn a LOT about the back story of Nassir. I have to say not all of it jived with my impressions of him from previous books but I can't remember if my impressions were based on facts or on my interpretations of the facts, I will have to reread to be sure. Anyway, there was also a lot of fill in story on some of the Arc Angels, but not a whole lot happened other than the love story. However, there were BIG hints that something huge is about the happen and I feel strongly that the next book will be focused back on Raphael and Elena, so that will make me very happy!

Of course it was worth the credit, it will likely never go on sale, but this is a wonderful series within a great world. I sincerely hope Mrs. Singh adds to this world soon and we don't have to wait another year *sigh*, as much as I love the Psy changeling world too I REALLY need to know what's going to happen to Raphael...so pretty please write more soon!

A story stopper in every way

Nalini Singh does not disappoint in this story as part of the series of the hunters Guild. And the ending leaves you wondering what the next step is in the hunters Guild series.

Loved the book, hated the narrators voices

Would you listen to Archangel's Enigma again? Why?

I loved the story line on Archanges Enigma however had to switch to just reading it because I found the voice used for Naasir ultra annoying.

Naasir... Need I say more???

If you could sum up Archangel's Enigma in three words, what would they be?

Naasir, Naasir, Naasir

Any additional comments?

NUMBER OF HEARTS: 5
Naasir!!!! Really do I need to say more? No I don’t, but that would make for a very short review. So here it goes.
In Archangel’s Enigma we finally get to see, understand and unravel the mystery that is Naasir. He is a very complicated creature that wants nothing more than to be loved. We know that Raphael, Elena and the seven love him, Naasir wants a mate. Someone who is just his.
I loved that Naasir went around smelling women to see if they are his potential mate. The first meeting between Naasir and Andromeda had me laughing out loud. As the Guild Hunter series has grown I have wondered what or who would be able to be Naasir’s mate. I have to say I was a bit surprised that his mate was going to be a shy, young scholar. But Andromeda shocked me. She is fierce, loyal and the absolute perfect mate for Naasir. I loved their journey to save Alexander. I loved how these two played together. I loved how they fought for a future together. I loved this book. I loved Naasir and Andromeda and I hope that Nalini will write a follow up novella for these two. One that includes pups. :D
I will say that the parts about Illium broke my heart and brought many tears to my eyes. I can not wait to see what is in story for everyone’s favorite Bluebell.
As always I had the amazing honor to have the very talented Justine Eyre read this story to me. Justine is so wicked talented it seems a little unfair. I have loved reading/listening to this story from the very first book. Justine does such a great job with the voices both male and female, that you don’t need to be told who is speaking. I have found that if you have a great narrator like Justine they can take an amazing story like Nalini’s and bring it to life. If you have not tried an audiobook I would pick up a copy of Angel’s Blood (bk1) and give this series a try.

Disclaimer:
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Netgalley & PENGUIN GROUP Berkley, NAL / Signet Romance, DAW in exchange for an honest review. This review is my own opinion and not a paid review.

Great addition to the series <3 Naasir & Andromida

4.5-5 stars

What a great addition to the Guild Hunter series! I have to admit that in previous books I was ok with Naasir but there were other secondary characters I liked better and wanted read stories about. However, once I started reading this book, I found that I loved Naasir as a hero and really enjoyed his and Andromeda's story.

Andromeda is the granddaughter of an Archangel (one that isn't a friend of Raphael) but she doesn't like her family and escaped to the Refuge at a very early age to pursue her calling of being a scribe. She's spent over 300 years there but there are issues with her family that she might not be able to escape. When a plot is uncovered to kill a sleeping ancient Archangel, Andromeda is asked to help Naasir find the Archangel so that Rapheal can protect him while he's vulnerable. Naasir has seen his friends find mates and how happy they are so he's decided that he wants his own mate and is out to find her. When Andromeda and Naasir meet, he feels like she might be his mate but there are some issues that they have to get past. The mission they're on bonds them quickly and it's quickly apparent that they're a very good match and should be together. Making that happen is a bit easier said than done but with some work and a little help from some friends, Naasir and Andromeda do end the story together and starting their HEA.

I enjoyed this story greatly. Andromeda and Naasir are a wonderful couple and I loved seeing them get together. As usual, Singh did a great job with the story and added to the overall series storyline without making it seem like a cliffhanger at the end (even though there's obviously still more to deal with in the future). The action and romance storylines melded together well and I loved the story and had no real complaints. I'd highly recommend both the series and this story. :D
