Working as a stripper and escort is anything but easy. You are often treated like a living blow-up doll and a therapist simultaneously. It’s a life that many judge easily…until you know more. Sita Kaylin, a California native who’s been in the sex industry since 1992, has lived the pitfalls of being naked in front of strangers and the absurdities that arise when you fake intimacy for a living.

Sita left home when she was sixteen, worked hard at several jobs and eventually started college after dropping out of high school. There, a roommate turned her on to stripping, revealing a way out of the crushing financial pressures she felt and her struggles as a pre-law student with very little time or energy to study. She had no idea how wild her journey would become and what a large part of her life it would be. Sita’s stories take shape through an often altered, occasionally sarcastic, sometimes illegal, and frequently funny magnifying glass she holds up to not just the sex industry, but also to human needs and desires, modern relationships, mental health, personal independence.

Anything But a Wasted Life is the autobiography of an unorthodox journey about a woman who has rarely said “no” to life. The majority of this book was written in strip clubs and dive bars around Los Angeles.

I cried and laughed with this audiobook in my downtime for a week and was so sad when it finished. I appreciated the way the shorter chapters allowed snapshots into the life of sw on a night to night basis, while also keeping along with a coherent story line. Her willingness to share the not so glamorous sides of stripping and personal life is bold and inspiring. Thank you, Sita, for this incredible look into your journey.

Granted I lead a same same but different life so I was drawn to the memoir::

As a fellow SW it is rare to see my unique and extraordinary experiences mirrored anywhere beyond the people involved’s memories. I’ve followed the author on social media for years and love her expression, I think anyone would.

The work is to be likeable by most and yet the author shares aspects and experiences that draw any reader into the plot, we’re there together and I cannot wait for the second book!

Relateable in a way that few experiences are

Sita has lived life on her own terms from start to finish. Well, she’s not finished yet! Let her describe the insanity that she’s seen behind closed doors.

I've read this book twice because what Sita writes about is from the heart and honest. From her roots in Marin County growing up during the 70s to her initiation into the world of dancing nights in San Francisco's hottest night clubs to traveling the world and making money 💰 she details her life so well with her wit and charm that she does so well. Listening to Sita read her biography is what I have been missing. Her tone, inflection and general demeanor make this audio book so much better while listening to her life unfold over the years. I am looking forward to her sequels.
