Publisher's Summary

I would like to tell you a little about my story and see if you can relate. At 37 years old I can look back now and say that my battle with generalized and social anxiety probably started around 10 years old. Pretty young right?

I would panic for weeks before having to speak in front of the class, I would sit at the back of the class and would dread group assignments where I would have to interact with people and even family gatherings would get me nervous.

I carried this into my teens and adult life where I would not go for jobs due to the fear of what the boss or future work friends would think of me. I would panic for weeks prior to a work social event or party with friends and would get sweaty and stressed on the way there.

Who wants to spend the rest of their life like this? like you I wanted to have the confidence to meet new people, go for new and better jobs and spend time with friends and family and feel totally relaxed while doing it.

I researched and spoke to professionals and began to put a plan in place to beat my mental illness for good after many failed attempts. Slowly, I got on top of it and although its something I have to be aware of moving forward I can say my life has improved out of sight.

I'm going to hit you with some stats now, did you know that in the US alone 40 million adults aged 18 and above suffer from an anxiety disorder? Did you also know that only 36 percent of those people actually get help? And that is just the United States, that's crazy right? Once I read that I knew I wanted to help make a difference and that's the reason I wrote his book with the exercises that helped me.

In this book you will discover:

  • One key 5 minute exercise that you can use daily to automatically put you in a positive frame of mind, its impossible not too
  • The underlying issue you are really suffering from and believe it or not, it's not anxiety
  • A skill that you can perfect overtime that will have you releasing your mind mind of negativity everyday
  • A technique that you can do anywhere to control stress and nobody will even know your doing it
  • A specific diet that helps improve the symptoms of anxiety
  • And much more....

If you think you have tried and failed to beat anxiety in the past and you have lost all hope then let me tell you I was a person who also failed many times before I found a formula that worked. I was someone who was always negative about the effectiveness of help from others.

I have narrowed this book down to specific exercises that worked for me after years of failure. I won't lie to you, its won't happen overnight, it's a process so if your want a quick fix this isn't the book for you but you need to think about where your at now and where you want to be in the future.

I love it

I love self-help books and this one isn’t any different. Everyone knows what it is like to deal with stress or anxiety and this book really lays it out on what they are and how to cope. The tools given were really helpful and I will personally try to incorporate them into my daily life. The book was also good at showing different habits that can contribute to these common issues you may have.

Wonderful book

Anxiety and stress now sometimes manifest themselves to our detriment in our daily lives rather than to our benefit. The author really does a good job throughout this book on defining what the two are, and how to go about them.

effective book on overcoming Anxiety

This is an effective book on overcoming Anxiety. Being so shy infront of others can be a problem. That could be the reason why the author wrote this book. This is really helpful in dealing social anxiety.

This is an excellent book

This is an excellent book, amongst so many self helps, and I recommend to everyone I can. It is full of practical self help exercises especially towards the end but I would recommend reading all; it's an easy uncomplicated read and helps you accept rather than fight against anxiety as well as giving you ways to cope. The author is not afraid to admit to his own issues with anxiety which makes you feel accepted and that it is far more prevalent in the modern world than you would think. It's all about the way you think about it really. A really useful book that I go back to time and again, along with mindfulness. I would like to buy his new one but worry about repetition.

I’ve been having severe health anxiety issues

I’ve been having severe health anxiety issues since the turn of the year. Burning throat everyday, seen countless doctors and had many invasive diagnostic tests. I simply could not entertain the idea that my throat pain was anything but medically caused. In desperation, I turned to the idea that my problems could be at least partly psychological, so I bought this book. It has opened my eyes to what I now believe to be the real reason for my pain: chronic anxiety and stress. The information in this book is so clear and insightful, and chimes so acutely with my experiences. I am now following the suggestions and today I have booked an initial consultation with a therapist. My journey to recovery has started, and in large part I have this book to thank for it. Thank you Michael Hewitt

I found this book to be excellent

I found this book to be excellent and would highly recommend it to anyone suffering from stress, anxiety and/or depression. I've had years of varying difficulties and have read lots of books and tried lots of techniques. I found this book really accessible and packed full of strategies as well as information. The information was written in a heartfelt way and Michael Hewitt obviously knows what he's talking about. Sometimes, it's the right time to hear something and there were sections of this book that have really stuck in my mind. That is praise indeed as I can often get to the end of a book and not remember a thing. In fact, in the two weeks since finishing this book, it has inspired and motivated me to make some major changes.

This book is AMAZING.

This book is AMAZING. Apart from its wonderfully hopeful and kind tone, which is extremely unusual, it reduced my anxiety significantly from the very first exercise I attempted, and I woke up the next day feeling more comfortable in my own skin than I can recall *ever* feeling. My anxiety continues to be much, much less than it was, and I've begun to make the exercises habitual responses when it does crop up.The information on how we process stress during sleep, and the part about how most of our stress is re-inflicted daily, rather than stemming from ancient history, was unique to this book - information I'd never seen anywhere else, and really helpful. There were a lot of other eye-openers too - this book doesn't just retread the same old ground - not at all. It is a bit technical at times, as some readers complain - but it's mostly written in a pleasant, conversational tone, so just skim over the parts that look dry to you, and stick with it until you get to the exercises. It will be well worth it! And don't miss the "emergency relief" section at the very end - it's very useful!

So pleased I have this book,

So pleased I have this book, half way through reading this and I can already feel the difference to my anxiety.I have been off work due to anxiety and so much of what has been said relates to how i have felt recently, especially before i was even diagnosed with anxiety.I have been prescribed medication but I know the only way i can truly be happy is if i start to learn how to control my emotions rather than my emotions control me.The excercises mentioned in the book have helped centre me when i feel the anxiety creeping in which calms me :)
I have a long way to go but feel with this book i have someone supporting me through the process.

I enjoyed this book,

I enjoyed this book, it allowed me to see anxiety through another set of eyes, by someone who truly experienced and overcame the difficulties of social anxiety. The methods to overcome shyness that are described in this book helped the author to overcome their social anxiety and I am using those methods for myself now.
