Publisher's Summary

Anxiety Free

It's easy for the distressing symptoms of anxiety disorders to be masked by medical conditions, making diagnoses difficult for physicians. Depression is often a companion issue for anxiety disorder sufferers and symptoms may overlap. A thorough patient examination helps to eliminate any medical problems. Once a disorder is isolated and identified, treatment may include medication, psychiatric therapy, or even a combination of standard and alternative therapies. Excessive anxiety and underlying distress that interfere with everyday living are common factors among the six major psychiatric conditions known as anxiety disorders. These are generalized anxiety disorder and panic disorder, phobias, obsessive-compulsive disorder, social anxiety disorder and post-traumatic stress disorder. Each condition manifests itself differently from patient to patient requiring customized treatment, according to an individual's specific disorder and needs. Successful treatment is commonly accomplished within a relatively short period of time.

What you will learn in this audiobook:

  • Managing anxiety attacks
  • Step-by-step instructions to manage anxiety using dialectical behavior therapy
  • Effective techniques for managing anxiety
  • The five systems we can use for managing anxiety assaults
  • Reclaim your life - tips to manage anxiety
  • How to get rid of anxiety - stop unwanted thoughts
  • Instructions for getting rid of anxiety attacks forever
  • How to get rid of anxiety - do you know the only solution to get rid of anxiety?

While medications are often integrated with therapy and sometimes complementary or alternative forms of treatment, medicines can also be used alone depending on the patient's condition and preference of treatment. Medications used for treatment are not cures for an anxiety disorder; however, they can be used by the patient situationally or as a way to keep it under control during coexisting behavioral treatment. When medications are suggested for treatment, doctors must first rule out any possible contributing causes for the anxiety that might interfere with the medication's performance. Since patients with anxiety disorders are often simultaneously affected by depression or substance abuse, a doctor may suggest separate treatment for these particular problems in advance of any anxiety treatment.

WOW!

Amazingly helpful and so interactive. You could do it alone but I recommend doing it with a counselor or therapist since it is a cognitive workbook. I also bought different anxiety and phobia workbook that I am doing first and then I will start this one. I feel the more knowledge you can have the better. I thought I knew so much about anxiety until I started listening to these. Very informative!!

I recommend it

Bought several books and workbooks for my preteen daughter. This one is concise, easy to listen, easy to understand and apply. It uses situations all kids can relate to and have probably witnessed or experienced. I'll have her add some thoughts when she finishes it.

Exceptional guide

This workbook is life changing. Granted, there is a lot of work you must put into it. I dedicated an hour every day to doing the worksheets and listening to the book, and it still took about a month to complete. Definitely worth every second I invested in putting forth the effort to rid myself of anxiety.

Confused

I fully expected that this book would teach me the Buteyko breathing method: I can't even find it mentioned in the book!! I also expected by the book cover that it would have a guided relaxation: no it does not. It gives ideas of things to do like eat well, get enough sleep, exercise etc. nothing we don't already know, but no instructions at all. Maybe I am missing something here because all other reviews are five star!!

Good book

This book is life-changing. If you are curious to learn more about anxiety, panic attacks, etc. or hoping to retrain your anxious thoughts, I highly recommend this book. It helps you rationalize and think-through your anxious thoughts and find ways to tolerate the anxiety. The exercises can be a little overwhelming at times, but they do help you think differently about anxiety

Very Helpful

I went through sections of this audible with a therapist years ago and it was helpful but it's been even more beneficial to me going through it again at my own pace. If you know yourself and you are dedicated to improving your anxiety I think this will work for you.

Good book

This is a good book if you follow up with all of the homework that comes with it. I found a therapist would work better. You need a coach to help you through this book. There is too much back and forth between the work sheets that makes this self help a little difficult

Fantastic!

I've listen tons of audibles on social anxiety, most published by highly clinical, academic types. This audible is so much better because of the listen very personal battle with it. The listen this audible shares his journey in a very genuine way and I think a lot of people will be able to relate to parts of it, I certainly can.

Essential guide

I like this book a lot. It’s sectioned into an intro and 7 weeks of guided Anxiety. It’s interactive enough that I don’t lose focus, and informational and clear enough that it’s very easily listenable.
