Publisher's Summary

Never underestimate the power of a volatile witch.

Still reeling in the wake of her mother's death, 16-year-old Bianca Monroe is forced to move to Chatham Castle. Not even the sudden appearance of ancient dragons in haunted Letum Wood nor her two best friends can distract her from the strength of her deep, dark rage.

Her grief puts her magical powers into chaos, endangering any witch around her. She has six months left to destroy the curse that will kill her and fulfill her contract with the most cunning enemy of all: her former teacher Miss Mabel.

Bianca must make a choice: learn to control her restless powers, or let the powers control her.

Antebellum Awakening is the second book in the thrilling new fantasy collection The Network Series. It's a haunting tale about tragedy, loss, and the power of moving on.

Bleh Narrator

The narrator was emotionally flat the whole book. Sad because it could have been better.

Great imagery.

I like the authors use of words to create a scene or feeling. Except the big fight scene, that was hard to follow along while listening. Maybe that's clearer for readers, or maybe I just don't love those parts of books and start to tune out then get confused! 😄

Exciting and Fresh.

While this book is a cross between the Never Ending Story and Harry Potter, it is a very telling story that keeps you turning the pages and rooting for the characters to grow, learn and feel. You spend much of this book about learning not to sit on your laurels, but rather to reach for the stars and know that the net is waiting once you have enough faith in yourself!

Great sequel!!

What an amazing continuation of the opening story. Katie weaves her story so masterfully that you get caught up in it immediately! I cannot wait to listen to the next installment!!

engaging for young adult fiction

the storyline is engaging enough for young adult fiction, and there isn't so much teenage angst to make you roll your eyes and skip chapters. if anything katie cross managed the teenage angst component slightly better than j.k. Rowling did with Harry potter.

the narrator still is a let down for the story. she just isn't suited to this book.

Full of action to the end!

As a Harry Potter fan, this was almost as suspenseful and a great book!

Great performance no big plot surprises

This is not a new story but the author does get credit for creating a new world. this is perfect for a young adult reader being introduced to the world of fantasy.

Give this one a listen!

This story continues on with Bianca and her friends. Miss Mabel is up to no good as usual. At the same time Bianca is struggling with the death of her mother and starts training with a young protector named Merrick to distract her. I once again really enjoyed the story that Katie tells. The narrator did a great job and way the story was written made everything flow nicely for audio. If you like magic, mystery, and young people overcoming obstacles in their lives. This is the book for you. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

great story, frustrating narrator

I loved the story, but the narrator finishes almost all sentences with an upward inflection that leaves you feeling like the sentence isn't finished, which gets very distracting

If you want a quick review...I'll just say listen to it!!! You won't be sorry.
To say i loved it is understatement, i cannot wait to dive straight back into this amazingly written world. The author wastes no words, there is magic, fun, suspense, adventure, the list goes on...

Enthralling

I loved this storytelling. The narrator did a famous job making it all feel with the characters. I think that I enjoyed this more than the first book.
