Publisher's Summary

On a snowy Christmas Eve, a beautiful young mother goes out to buy a few last minute gifts and never returns....

....thirty years later, her daughter picks up her trail.

As the owner of an estate sale business, Audrey Nealon knows a lot about art, antiques, and the unlikely places old people hide their treasures. But the shabby home of an elderly widow holds alarming surprises: street drugs in the silverware drawer, a trunkful of jewels in the attic, and the distinctive ring Audrey's mother was wearing the night she disappeared. Believing the truth will bring her peace, Audrey relentlessly pursues clues to her family's troubled history. But each fact Audrey uncovers drags her further away from the love she craves, and puts her on a collision course with people more determined, more ambitious, and more dangerous than she can fathom. As the twist ending reveals, some truths are too awful to bear, and too terrible to share.

Loved it!

What made the experience of listening to Another Man's Treasure the most enjoyable?

I've always liked a good mystery, and I love watching shows like Antiques Road Show and American Pickers. Combined? Best concept ever!

Who was your favorite character and why?

Voice-Wise, I'd have to say her father. Voicing a stroke victim must have been really hard, but the narrator nailed it. Especially with his speech steadily improving as he struggled to rehabilitate.

What does Janelle Tedesco bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Listening to a book can bring the characters to life in a way that just reading doesn't. It also forces me to slow down and really savor the story. Tedesco is an excellent voice actress, and I really enjoyed her work on this book.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I'd have to say the ending, when everything finally becomes clear. We finally find out what really happened, and Audrey can finally move on.

Any additional comments?

I really enjoyed the unravelling of all of the layers of deception in this story. There was also some very poignant social commentary, especially in regards to racism and police. It was very well portrayed, and I wanted to note that. I received this book in exchange for an honest review.

Fun, and Surprisingly Gripping

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

This is a fun, entertaining listen... until you suddenly find yourself hooked and craving more and more and more!Audrey Nealon owns an estate sale business — she and her two quirky assistants sort and sell the possessions of people who've died. Then one day, while cleaning out the modest home of Mrs. Agnes Szabo, Audrey comes across a one-of-a-kind ring that belonged to her mother — the mother who disappeared when Audrey was 3 and has never been heard from again.Audrey sets out to unravel her mother's story and finds herself coping with a racist (maybe) cop, a devoted (maybe) boyfriend, a rabidly political family, a father who hates her, a drug-dealing (maybe) assistant, a trunk of stolen jewelry, and someone who's trying very, very hard to kill her.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Secrets within secrets, betrayals within betrayals, make it impossible for Audrey to know for sure who's friend and who's foe — and kept me constantly wondering what was going to happen next.

What does Janelle Tedesco bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Janelle Tedesco's narration is superb. She nails Audrey Nealon's thoughtful intelligence, as well as her insecurities and moments of panic. Her character voices aren't a strong as her narration — the street-smart Black kid from Newark has a southern drawl, for example — but this didn't stop me from devouring the book every time I could make a moment to listen.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I neglected far too many duties so that I could hear the entire book in just three days.

Any additional comments?

Another Man's Treasure was so satisfying that I'm reading S.W. Hubbard's next two Palmyrton Estate Sale books. When do we get Audible versions of THOSE??

A treasure indeed!

Years ago, I used to read lots of thrillers. Then I somehow got a taste for fantasy books and read (still am) mainly books in that genre.
I recently returned to reading (or better listening to) thrillers again. The German ones were nearly all a disappointment, but the English ones I listened to recently have just been great.
Another Man's Treasure is no exception. I loved every minute of it. Such great suspense, convincing plot, great characters, and a wholly surprising ending. I really thought I had figured it out long before the conclusion, but I was way off. There are lots of twists and turns, and there wasn't a single moment when I wasn't convinced by them, or didn't buy into them.
I liked the language, too. No permanent swearing (which is always a downer for me), just perfectly normal speech, like actual people would talk. Although this is part of a series, there is no cliffhanger, for which I'm very grateful, because that is something I hate (and most authors nowadays end their books with).

Janelle Tedesco's narration was just perfect. She brought all the characters to life, her pace was perfectly suited to the pace of the story, and it was an absolute pleasure to get lost in her narration.
In fact, I was so drawn in that I couldn't fall asleep -- the story just kept me awake and listening until the wee hours of this morning.

I can't wait to listen to the sequel, which I hope is already available in audio, cause my reading time is very limited.

I got this audio book for free in exchange for an honest review, and believe me, if I'm not convinced, I say so, but this book just blew me away.

Engrossing and well-written mystery

I REALLY liked this book and I can't wait to see what happens in the next book. This book is a really complex (yet completely followable) mystery with many facets to it. Adultery, murder, betrayal, political intrigue, etc. I honestly wasn't expecting to like this book as much as I did. The characters were really interesting, and were completely brought to life by the EXCELLENT narration of Janelle Tedesco. I don't think I've ever listened to this narrator before, but I'm hooked. Now I want to find everything she has done. And same goes for the author - now I want to read everything she's written. I love a mystery that isn't predictable and I really did not predict anything that happened in this book. If you're looking for a really well-written mystery, check this one out. I received a promotional copy of this Audible book in exchange for an honest review.

STOP WHINING!

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

Could the stalker take her out already so she's stops whining? What a victim! I tried twice to get through this book and just can't take her anymore. Enough! The only character I hopes survives is the dog. Delete! Delete! Delete!

Enjoyed it a lot.

I noticed Janelle post on a facebook group I'm in looking for reviews on the next book, she was kind enough to let me listen to this one (with no obligation to review)

What I found in this story was a very interesting main character who had a pretty ordinary life. But that life is blown out the water by a treasure chest. And a whole load of mystery revolving around her family.

Janelle has a wonderful sweet character voice for Audrey and she even plays really well the gents characters, just enough lower depth to them. I liked Tai too he had such awesome drawl. :)

What kept me entertained had to be the whole mystery, I can admit that I've not listened to or read many in this genre so the twists and plot points around the story kept me very entertained, and wondering the who, what and why. I was glad that it played out as it did and the ending was extremely well done.

I'd like more in this series to see what happens with Audrey and her friends, and maybe even to see if there's some genuine romance between her and the policeman. Their relationship was great, protector to friend. That's the kind of story I'm interested in, not the posh guy who was asked to date her, then kidna fell for her that trope is over done. I think my only main concern was the length of the overall story, it held my interest but it might have been a little on the long side.

Looking forward to more. Thank you for the opportunity to get to listen in. :)

Audrey is a Keeper!

Would you listen to Another Man's Treasure again? Why?

Positively, Yes! There are interesting twists and turns to this mystery and Audrey and her assistants are a fine team to read and listen about.

I am aware of how much a voice talent can add or detract from an audio book. That's why I tend to mention the narrator so often when I review Audible products. The story is the most important, but if the narrator pulls it off, that adds so much enjoyment to the listener. The reverse is true, of course.

Janelle Tedesco was outstanding. She was able to realistically give characters of different genders and ethnicity believable voices and kept the action flowing in a way that keeps your attention.

What did you like best about this story?

The development of a "found" item which leads to personal history and the mystery to be solved. Is that vague enough? I avoid spoilers! lol

Which scene was your favorite?

The whole story as it evolved. The exploring of locations, finding treasures that tell the history of someone. The background of the characters.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Treasures, hoarders and mysterious happenings...

Any additional comments?

Some of the reviews suggest there is an issue with language and sexual situations. I did NOT find that to be the case at all! Some milder, situation appropriate language and sexual interaction are there, but not to the extent to be offensive, in my opinion.

This is a enjoyable listen and I much appreciate the opportunity to listen and review.

Good entertaining and unpredictable mystery.

What did you love best about Another Man's Treasure?

I was entertained by this book and didn't know what to expect next.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

It kept me listening to find out who was bad and who was good and what really happened.

Which scene was your favorite?

I didn't have a favorite scene.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Nothing extreme.

Any additional comments?

I did enjoy the twists in this book. I wasn't sure throughout the book who to trust and who was deceitful. Audrey second guessing herself and trying to figure out who to trust wasn't as overpowering and annoying as a lot of female characters in books. She was more realistic and didn't make me roll my eyes as a lot of lead female characters do.

Another Man's Treasure

Audrey is a very likable character that you can't help but like and have all these feelings for. Her mother went missing when she was 3 and life has not been that easy since then. Audrey has made the best of it and has a fantastic business which she loves and is making a great success. Then as she is cleaning out a customers house she stumbles upon her mothers ring. It was a one of a kind ring that her mother never took off. So many questions are started after that. The book is super fun and keeps you guessing. I really enjoyed it and look forward to more form the series. The narrator has a nice voice and made it easy to listen to.

Mystery with complex characters

The author really surprised me with this book. Not only is the mystery good but the characters are complex and feel more 3D.
there are more twists and turns than a complex knot.
I couldn't stop listening to it until I got to the end. I am really looking forward to the second book in the series.
There is profanity but I didn't cringe whenever the characters said it. The author used it only when it was needed (between 40 to 50 words). There is no sexual content (happens behind closed doors) and some moderate violence.

Wonderful Crime Thriller.

Our central character, Audrey, makes a chance discover of her mothers ring in a house content sale she is about to run but her mother vanished 30 years before. The ring is part of a discovery of drugs and a chest of more jewelry in the house. From here the various plot lines expand, entwine and combine to make a great crime thriller. The writing it wonderful and the pace is excellent with a great cast of characters. The humour is subtle and fits in well. A great narrator adds to the listening enjoyment. Can't wait for the next in the series.

I loved this book. I was hooked. I loved the friendship between Audrey and Jill especially and I loved how Coughlin grows as a character over the novel. The twists and turns of the mystery kept me gripped throughout, even if it becomes slightly obvious towards the end.

Well written with twists and turns. Mystery without blood and guts. I listened without pause - all day long. What a good story, it flowed smoothly, kept me enthralled til the end. Congratulations on becoming my new favourite author.
