A time of reckoning has come for the council of Toro, a bandit city about to burst with corruption and injustice. Valerie refuses to allow her world to rot, and she's brought friends to help her teach the council a lesson. As if that weren't enough, Cammie and Royland have begun to rule the former pirate island. This involves ensuring there are no nearby threats, so while these two might be perfect for each other, they have business to attend to before they can sit back and bask in their newfound positions of power. And down south, New York has risen up out of the sewers it once occupied. It's a new world, one Sandra and the others might just one day soon be able to enjoy without bloodshed.

Publisher's Summary
For this vampire, it's time to die...a second time.
Valerie understands that to take the fight to those who are attacking in New York, she needs to leave the spotlight. Both for the city, and for herself.
Her enemies are relentless in their attacks to get to her. Since they have relocated to the Chicago City-State area, that is where she must go.
Only one problem - she will be running into the militaristic force called the FDG. She'll need to either work with them, or stay off their radar to take out the CEOs.
She hopes.
For those who have been demanding her head, the Angel of Reckoning has their response, and she is coming to deliver it.
Personally.

Great Series! Must Read Series! Great Narration!
Wow this series is so good. So much action going on all the time. I love Valerie, she is awesome and can kick some butt for sure!
These books are about Vampires, Weres and Human's working together after an apocalypse. There are good guys and bad guys. The stories are easy to read and follow along. Very fast paced books. Exciting and fun.
I especially love that after the end the authors put add notes about the book and the story and other books they are working on. It's nice to hear what is in the authors mind when they are writing so this is a real treat.
As for the narration. Well it is fantastic. Love Kate Rudd. She is a great narrator and really brings the characters alive. The men sound like men, everybody gets their own distinct voice and she read with emotion.
If you have read this series you should! I highly recommend this series and The Kurtherian Gambit Series by Michael Anderle. They are all great books too.

Awesome read and Awesome narration..
So, this was listed as book 4 of 4, which I thought was the last book in this series, but apparently that’s not what 4 of 4 means, since the authors notes was talking about the next book, #5 is Born in Flames. It says it’ll be out in June of 2017, so YAY!
The first CEO, Ian, she was out to kill was as crazy as a bedbug so she couldn’t kill him, not with him being insane, it wouldn’t be right! However, she did take care of the other two, Alex and Dmitri. And they in turn beat the crap out of Valerie. There are some serious battles in these books. I loved every one of the Kurtherian Gambit books I’ve read so far.
This book was exciting and bloody and a little sad, too. Valerie and Jackson were a great couple and it sucked that she didn’t even want to say goodbye to him, when she brought the vamps back to Old Manhattan then left with Robin, to look for Robin’s family, and for Valerie to kill herself some pirates.
I do love the players in these books: Valerie, that goes without saying, Jackson, Sandra, Diego, Robin, Wallace, Cammie, Royland and Donnoly. And the crazies are great bad guys, Ian, Alex, Dimitri and Giuseppe. And thankfully Brad turned out to be a good guy after all.
Anyway, no sex and the F-bomb was used 27 times.
As to the narration: Kate Rudd is always awesome! With her voices and her emotions.

Almost a novella
I love this series. However, Mr. Anderle is pushing it. The books are short to begin with including narrator comments. This book included a free chapter bonus from a totally different series. Just stop doing me favors. I'm buying too many credits as it is. Returned the book for this reason. Will return any future books that do the same thing.

An enjoyable listen
I really enjoyed this story and the series so far. I can't give it give stars on account of a (very) few infelicitous phrases and word combinations.
