Not all angels are sane...

Someone saved David Barker’s life, but he doesn’t know who—or what—she is. Now he’s haunted by the image of that beautiful, nebulous vision with the features of a woman and determined to find out why she appeared when he almost died. David uses an angel board in hopes of contacting her, and unfortunately for him, he succeeds. This angel has loved him all his life, guarded him and protected him. And she’ll hurt anyone who interferes with that love. David’s guardian angel is obsessive, possessive…and homicidal. Her unyielding love for him will leave a trail of grisly “accidents” and murders as she eliminates all those who want to hurt David. Or love him.

A delightfully fun horror filled romp! This book was obviously inspired by vintage horror and Rufty nailed it. This book has the best 80's horror vibes- it was weird and gory and addictive. This book is an interesting take on Angels and the twisted and dark effects obsession can cause.

I've read and loved many of Rufty's books. I think this might be his first published so it was interesting reading his debut and seeing where his writing started and the hints of how it would develop.

I listened to the audio version of this book and while I think the narrator was objectively good, something about him just couldn't hold my attention. I found my mind wandering often and having to rewind. Obviously, this is a personal preference. I think this story would have benefited by having a narrator for the female characters as well as the male.

Over all a fun nostalgic horror read and I'd definitely recommend it.
