Anastasia's tenth year has some good things, like falling in love and really getting to know her grandmother, and some bad things, like finding out about an impending baby brother.
Her green notebook is about to get very, very full.
- An Unwanted Sibling: Anastasia is less than thrilled about the new arrival. Her secret choice for his name is the most terrible one she can think of.
- A Hilarious First Crush: She’s in love with sixth-grader Washburn Cummings. He, unfortunately, thinks her new hairdo makes her look like she stuck her finger in a socket.
- Fourth Grade Problems: From a teacher who gives her poem an F to navigating school clubs, being ten is more complicated than it looks.
- A Quirky Family Story: With a poet father, a painter mother, and a whole lot of opinions, life in the Krupnik apartment is never, ever boring.

Because I’m blind, when I was little, I had audiobooks on CD.
Well as an adult, I wanted that book again and found it.
It was JUST as good as I remember it when I was little, I loved it.
I don’t want to add any spoilers.

What disappointed you about Anastasia Krupnik?
This one, not the first in the Anastasia series, is sort of an odd choice-- even odder that you can't get the other Anastasia books on tape. It is well read, but the material is fairly peculiar--not quite funny, with a cranky and rather unlikable main character. Lois Lowry is a genius and does everything well, so the writing is fine. But she has much better work, i.e. Goony Bird Green, and those are exceptionally well performed and available as audio books. I'd totally recommend those instead.Did C. J. Critt do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?
Yes all the voicves are distinct and well doneIf you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Anastasia Krupnik?
A few of the things she hates could have been cut. I'm not sure anyone needs to hear quite so much about what a 10 year old girl hates.Any additional comments?
Still plenty of humor and spark-- just not this author's best work, and at her best she is brilliant. An odd book, go for Goony Bird Green instead!
