A fun visit to 80s childhood!

I was unfamiliar with this book & the series but listened to it for a children’s classics read with a book group & really enjoyed it. Apparently it’s banned but I have no idea why. Anastasia is a delight & I will read/listen to the other books in this series.

I had this audiobook on CD when I was little

I’m completely blind, autistic and have a chronic heart condition.
Because I’m blind, when I was little, I had audiobooks on CD.
Well as an adult, I wanted that book again and found it.
It was JUST as good as I remember it when I was little, I loved it.
I don’t want to add any spoilers.

I wish that Audible would have all the Anastasia Krupnik books. I really like books by Lois Lowery and the voice for this book. I love the voice of the person that read this book! If there were more Anastasia Krupnik books I would definitely listen to it if it was read by the same person who reads this book! I love this story very much and have listened to it soooo many time. I listen to it before bed and think this is a great bedtime story. 🤩🩷 it has pretty good humour I had a few laughs listening to it! I would definitely recommend this book it’s a great story. And having seen Lois lowery in real life it makes this book even better knowing the author more. I love the story! 5 out of 5 stars!⭐️

An odd book, go for Goony Bird Green instead!

What disappointed you about Anastasia Krupnik?

This one, not the first in the Anastasia series, is sort of an odd choice-- even odder that you can't get the other Anastasia books on tape. It is well read, but the material is fairly peculiar--not quite funny, with a cranky and rather unlikable main character. Lois Lowry is a genius and does everything well, so the writing is fine. But she has much better work, i.e. Goony Bird Green, and those are exceptionally well performed and available as audio books. I'd totally recommend those instead.

Did C. J. Critt do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?

Yes all the voicves are distinct and well done

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Anastasia Krupnik?

A few of the things she hates could have been cut. I'm not sure anyone needs to hear quite so much about what a 10 year old girl hates.

Still plenty of humor and spark-- just not this author's best work, and at her best she is brilliant.
