Publisher's summary

When Alissa Parker lost her daughter Emilie in the Sandy Hook Elementary mass shooting, she started a life-changing journey to answer soul-searching questions about faith, hope, and healing. As she sought for the peace and comfort that could help mend her broken heart, she learned, step by step, how to open her heart to God's grace and will.

One step brought her face to face with the shooter's father, where in a pivotal and poignant meeting, she was given an opportunity to forgive. Another step brought her into the sheltering compassion of her community as family, friends, and even strangers reached out to buoy her up with their shared faith. And several miraculous manifestations of Emilie's continued presence and influence lifted her heart and will validate the faith of every Christian.

The story of Alissa and Emilie reminds us that the bonds of love continue beyond this life and that despite tragedy and heartache, we can find strength in our family and our faith.

Great book

i really enjoyed this book. The author really takes you on a journey of emotions to give you an insight into the despair, anger, grief, pain and forgiveness her family endured. It made me believe I can endure my own challenges. This book helped strenthen my belief that I can overcome anything through our Savior and his love.

Amazing heartfelt read!!

I finished this in 2 days. You can feel her pain through her voice. You can also feel her faith. This book changed me. I myself am a mother of 3. I can't imagine going through this. Her story gave me chills. Touched my soul as I'm sure it has for many others.

So heartfelt and tender

I loved listening to Alissa’s story about her sweet daughter Emilie. As a fellow mother of an angel, I was touched by Alissa’s experiences with her daughter after she passed. Beautiful story of strength and forgiveness.

A Beautiful Faith Inspiring Story of Love

As a mother of 4 little girls and now grandma of 20, my girls & I struggled with broken hearts Dec.14, 2012. We had gathered that day to make gingerbread houses with the kids in our family. We each privately prayed for all the families with broken hearts & the shock of such a loss. My daughter Kristen who’s home we met was teaching 4 yr olds at her local elementary school in Lehi Utah. My husband Kevin & I are converts to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I embrace the belief that we can be a forever family but like all mothers my greatest fear has been losing one of my girls. I’m so grateful to Alissa for sharing such an intimate experience & I want to share her book with at least 7 or 8 people that I know would touch & lift their hearts. I hope I can meet Emilie myself one day! We are truly connected with one another.

Great Book-Inspirational

I loved this book and that this amazing mother shared her challenges and struggles through her trials with all of us. It helped deepen my appreciation for others and for what’s on the other side. This also helps me to feel strength through my own trials :)

Heavenly and very Mortal too

Devastating story. Love the voice of narrator. This story impacted many yet your portrayal is raw and inspiring despite being centered in tragedy. Thanks. Love Emily too yet never knew this precious, sweet young lady.
