Forgiveness, is it possible?
This was the first book I've read (listened to) by this author. I plan to read many more because I enjoyed this one so much.
Hannah lives with a secret that she has shared with no one. It's amazing how one secret can affect so many people but this story illustrates just how that can happen.
Hannah grows up with Samuel and Christian who are best friends. Samuel leaves their Amish community without warning but leaves a note behind saying goodbye. Hannah and Christian get married and attempt to start a family when tragedy strikes, threatening to reveal her secret.
This is not your typical "feel good" Amish novel. It brings up real-life situations that can, and do, happen and the harsh consequences of our decisions. Because of some bad choices we make, we can struggle with shame, remorse and many more heartbreaking emotions. Fortunately, this story also focuses on forgiveness and trusting in God. If you make it through this book with dry eyes, you are much tougher than me.
I highly recommend this novel to anyone wanting a closer relationship with God or desiring to learn the importance of forgiveness.
I received an audio version of this story from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Truth, Forgiveness, Blessings . . . Faith
I've long had admiration for the Amish, who after I had grown up, settled in our area in Kentucky, gaining the respect of their neighbors. We often stop and buy baskets and other handmade goods from them when we travel back home, and marvel at their craftsmanship. We have always thought of them as brothers and sisters in Christ. This book touched my heart in ways unimaginable. I have often wondered how these humble, hard working people can exist untouched, and unblemished alongside their "English" neighbors, in a world that is so corrupt and full of temptation. As we have driven past their simple houses, with no electric lines going to or from their homes, and no cars parked in their drive ways, I've contemplated it. For you can see their black buggies at Wal-mart sometimes, they must venture out into the "English" world . . . to be in it but not "of" it. Just as all Christians must . . . but the rest of us, at least we THINK we have put on a little armor . . . This book, An Unforgivable Secret, gives us all a deeper look into Amish life . . . and for me, a greater hope that His mercy penetrates deep into all who would call themselves His servants.

Not your average Amish book!
This book dealt with issues of life that not all Amish books have. I stayed interested throughout the story. There were a few moments when the narrator seemed to have a difficult time making sentences flow smoothly. A couple times there were small annoyances with how she used her voice, but I don't think it was so bad to not listen.

Any additional comments?
Hannah has a secret, a secret that she thinks is unforgivable. This secret could ruin her marriage and have her shunned. How can she go on with life as this secret affects not only herself, her husband and her family and close friends. Will her husband forgive her and more importantly can God forgive her.

Don't bother, it's tedious and unenjoyable
This 'secret' is only of relevant interest to these Amish..
Whilst I respect the way they want to obtain substantial amounts of land and be self sufficient, really they aren't and use this facade while happily making&taking money from the rest of us.
The narrator could do nothing with it. It's one dimensionality dreadful, seriously....
Don't bother
