Publisher's Summary

One minute Joanna Schrock was arguing with her parents, and the next her parents' lives were claimed in a hit-and-run buggy accident. Her body is broken, but her heart is in even deeper pain - after all, how do you cope with your parents' deaths when your last words were spoken in anger?

After an extended stint in a physical rehabilitation center, she re-nters her Amish life. But nothing is the same - not even her feelings for Andrew Beiler. Joanna has loved Andrew since the age of 12. She is thrilled when Andrew wants to get married, but she wonders whether it's love he's feeling or pity. As the couple's wedding date approaches, Joanna isn't overcome with the deep joy she was hoping to find; instead she's wracked with anxiety and guilt.

Joanna hears God whispering to her, "Be strong and courageous," but she's afraid that courage looks a lot like walking away from her dreams and into the plan of her Heavenly Father. If Joanna takes the first step toward healing, will it cost her everything she's ever wanted? Or could God be changing the desires of her heart?

Excellent Story

I loved the first book in this series and I loved this one as well. I would say to listen to them in order. The stories are raw and genuine, tackling tough issues. The narrator did a great job as well! looking forward to the next book in the series!

An Unbroken Heart

I am finding this review difficult to write. Continuing with the loss of the both parents and Joanna still in the rehab with her multiple injuries. Many subjects to write about that the reader will have to listen for themselves,
The ending was not to my liking, regarding about the deaths of both parents. Making it seem to be a good thing that had happened and two lives were wiped out which is so tragic and someone should have to pay. No one stayed at the sight of the crash to take the blame. Many names to keep straight for me saying to myself, "which one was that now?"

Tedious plot

I liked the first one much more. the plot for this one is very thin and based on an annoying self-pitying heroine. if she cut a couple hours from the first half I might go 4 stars. I only finished it to see if the third one is as good as the first. the narration is decent, but she makes the masculine characters sound like dufuses. I also don't like how she emphasizes every German word- it's distracting.

2nd book in the series did not disappoint!

Oh I couldn't wait to listen to this second book and I was enthralled. My husband was so aggravated because I barely listened to him and all I could do was listen to the book! :) Just finished this one and on to the next! Great author with well-developed characters and storylines.

Absolutely beautiful romantic literary fiction well worth reading.

This was a great story that I very much enjoyed reading. I think my favorite part was when Andrew and Joanna went to visit Cameron, the man that played a part in Joanna‘s parents death. It is a beautiful story of forgiveness and yes, I would have to say redemption as well. I also really like the part where the sisters are talking amongst themselves regarding pressing charges on Cameron. This whole novel will have you pondering things in your own life and also crying. It is a real tearjerker but it is a masterpiece of a story.

a story about maturity understanding and love

I really enjoyed this Second this second book. I am now going to listen to the 3rd. I love the love story of dealing with blaming herself and dealing with being in love and becoming more mature in the relationship. And having a forgiving heart and worshiping God and putting him first.

annoyed

I listen to Amish books to hear clean good story books. But for whatever reason Kathleen wishes everyone to offend God by being lead to unholy thoughts with her books and this reader is willing to go along with the way she reads them. I like to be able to, seems like a good story, but it's just not acceptable to me..
