In Republic and Empire, Ducus Iratus rules Earth with an iron fist. He dreams of becoming Emperor of known space. The crew of the Beagle become a kick ball between alien dictators, the ruthless Republic, and two rogue artificial intelligence entities.

Space Opera to the MAX

This series takes us to our near and far future, sadly a future I see given what's happening around us. Our humanity has failed and a helpful alien people have come to save us! - or have they? Follow Earth's last hope through the ages and tribulations that show us humans are just as devious as everyone else out there. Humans are also just as cunning, brilliant, and will do anything for our freedom.

I highly recommend the series because it reminds us to take care or we're doomed.

Good series

I found the story a little slow but engaging. The only complaint I have is the narrator whistles his S. It hit my tinnitus just right.

Perfect if you´ve run out of zolpidem.. ZzzzZzzzzz

I had to give up listening, after 2 hours.. The story is mind-bogglingly slow progressing.

Almost 2 hours into the story, were in a spaceship and something hits 1 of the 3 satellite discs used to communicate with earth. No one notices, as they all are sleeping, but when they don't get the expected greeting from Earth, they decide to run a system check of the spaceship.. The smashed disc cant be repaired, but since they are out there anyway, they do a bit of maintenance on the hull and fly on.. Pheew intense, wasn't it??

It´s like a story of somebody's uninteresting everyday life.. He/she wakes up, uses the bathroom, walks out and check the mailbox while the coffee is brewing and then sits in his/hers sofa the rest of the day.. :D
