Publisher's summary

Sydney St. James has decided to settle. She says yes to Mr. Not Quite Right and sets sail on a cruise to Alaska for her bachelorette party. But when Sydney meets Silicon Valley's most eligible bachelor aboard the ship, her world turns upside down. Oscar Martin is handsome, charming, and to make matters worse...he gets her completely.

Oscar has his own problems - and his own fiancée. He'd planned the cruise as a last ditch attempt to save their relationship, but she decided to skip it. The tide turns when he meets Sydney as they both reach for the last éclair at the dessert station. Now he can't get the beautiful, feisty woman off his mind.

Oscar is certain serendipity brought them together. Sydney is not so sure. But the cruise will be a trip of self-discovery for both of them, and fate will have the final word.

Another good story by Mr. Amooi

This is the latest story. Not my favorite, but still good. The female lead started to get on my nerves toward the end, but I could understand her reasoning. More angst then normal. But funny like always. Would really love to see a story about his friend and hers.

I really felt bad for Elliot. Poor man.

An Eclair Affair

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

I enjoyed the listen but was a bit disappointed that the story didn't take on a more original spin. I feel that the characters are interesting and would have loved to see them in more detail but I did find that the storyline was too identical to the original "Affair". The fact is, I loved the original "An Affair to Remember"

Did Ryan Kennard Burke do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?

I feel that Ryan Kennard gave a satisfactory performance with "Eclair" but female vs male character differentiating was muddled. I did not feel that each character voice was developed completely and the performance detracted from the story.

Could you see An Eclair to Remember being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

Movie? Probably on Lifetime, but it would be just a poor copy of the original. I did like the characters but would love to see them in a different storyline.

A love story you will fall in love with!

First off I want to say the narration is terrible, but don't let the voice steer you away from the book. I almost did and I'm so glad I stuck with it because I loved it and hated when it came to an end! This book is worth the listen for sure!!

Love is sweet!

If you could sum up An Eclair to Remember in three words, what would they be?

light, romantic and sweet

What was one of the most memorable moments of An Eclair to Remember?

Any additional comments?

And it all started with an eclair. Sydney is on the cruise with her best friend to celebrate her upcoming wedding and Oscar was hoping that the cruise would give him some time with his fiancee to see if this is what he truly wanted but she refused to come along. In a chance meeting, Serendipity anyone?, over an eclair at a dessert station, Oscar and Sydney come together for the first of many meetings on the ship. As the cruise continues and they continue to meet up, Oscar and Sydney start to doubt their current relationships and whether or not this new one is what they want.

Mr. Amooi has done it again. He has written a story that will take hold of you and not let go. I like the fact that his characters are actual grown ups with real lives etc. The are people who have experienced life. I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys are light but thoughtful romance. I also recommend Mr. Crotchety by Mr. Amooi. Again another story about grown up characters!

Mr. Burke is a gifted narrator. He is able to draw you further into the story with his charm, sense of accents and his emotion. I look forward to listening to more of Mr. Burke's work.

Good story, told poorly

There's not much suspense in An Eclair to Remember, if you've seen the Grant-Kerr movie, or it's 1939 predecessor Love Affair. That's okay, because it'a nice story, and Amooi has a deft touch with light romance. What put me off was the terrible narration.

I'm glad I had both the Kindle and the Audible versions of this book, because the narrator drove me away pretty quickly. His narration often sounds as if it's directed at a class of elementary school children. The narrator is frequently overly dramatic, and doesn't differentiate between genders. Most important, he overlooks Oscar's Spanish accent and pronunciation which is an important part of the book.

Do yourself a favor and read this one. It's short enough to get through in an afternoon. Skip the recorded version.

Light and funny! A very enjoyable listen!

I was given this audio book in exchange for an honest review. This was my second Romantic Comedy Rich Amooi book and I was very anxious to listen to it.
This is the story of Sydney and Oscar. They are engaged (to other people) and are on a cruise to Alaska without their fiances--a sure sign of trouble in paradise. They meet over the dessert table and ensue "fighting" over the last eclair. They soon discover that they are perfect for each other, but there is the teeny, tiny issue of the fiances left at home. What to do? They come up with a plan, We all know things don't always go as planned. Will they ever make it back together or should they just have shared the eclair and gone their separate ways?
This book made me laugh. Yea! The performance by Ryan Kennard Burke was spot on! If you like this book I highly recommend Kissing Frogs by Rich Amooi, which I enjoyed even more than An Eclair to Remember.

Quick FUN listen!

--I was given a copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

What a breath of fresh air! This book was so much fun! It is my first Rich Amooi book and it is certainly not going to be my last. Sydney and her best friend Gina venture on a bachelorette party cruise to Alaska. Gina does not think Sydney fiancee, Elliot is a good match for her and she is settling. Oscar, the second sexiest man alive is also engaged and unhappy on this cruise. Sydney and Oscar meet over the last eclair, and it is instant chemistry. The banter between the two of these characters is light, funny, emotional and loving. When they leave the cruise, the agree to meet after a month in middle of the Golden Gate Bridge...one does not show...by why? You will have to read/listen to find out!

Ryan Kennard Burke does a wonderful job portraying this book He brings a lilt to his voice when needed, an English accent, a Spanish accent and all out great cast of characters! It's a great listen and is highly recommended!
