an Amish man hopes and dreams

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It is the first I have read with the man's point of view and his hurts and dreams. Very good story! It is also the first I have read or listened to where Amish parents were called mom and dad instead of maam and dat. I look forward to hearing more from this author.

HEARTACHE

Gregory had been courting thoughts of marriage and settling down when she broke it off. Following the guidelines for courting. With another disappointment, wants to make changes within himself, being positive, to finding a true love. Which with the Amish is a lifetime. Good story of heartbreak, and how he handle it. Have read other stories by author and all have been good Liked the narration, which brought this story to life. By Julie Lancelot

Great Listen

I got this story via audiobook boom and this is my voluntary review. This was a great short story. It did not go into a lot of details about the Amish life but just enough to let you know they are Amish. The human emotions of loving then losing and then losing hope were portrayed well. Loved the interactions between the siblings as well as how the parents let them know they were loved and that they should not lose the hope of finding love in their lives. Great story. The narrator was very good. The production not so much. There was a lot of hollow in the background.

The power of positive thinking!

This charming story draws you in right away. It is told from the man's perspective. I found it engaging and just the right amount of conflict tho keep it light enough to listen to on an afternoon of doing art. The man relied on God and found great comfort in his prayer time. Yes, it was pushing positive thinking, but not in and of itself. The kind of positive thinking that means you trust God and know that he cares for every detail of your life. That's a message I needed tho hear today. Thank you Joseph Hersh! =)

Nice stories but narration could be better.

But I felt the narration could have been better. The narrators voice did not grate on my nerves or anything like that. I’m glad I listened because I liked the stories, but the narration didn’t sound professional. The characters had no personality when they were speaking. The male characters were especially flat. Also, you could hear when the recording cut off at the end of the chapters. The narrator had a nice soft soothing voice, but the recording as a whole sounded amateur. This review is not to scare you away at all, but rather to let the author know to possibly select a different narrator next time or for the narrator to know she needs to improve some things. Overall it was not bad at all story-wise. I prefer longer stories to novellas, but this was not a waste of my time.
