Publisher's Summary

Chief Warrant Officer Gary O'Neal is no ordinary soldier. For nearly 40 years, he has fought America's enemies, becoming one of the greatest Warriors this nation has ever known. Part Native American, O'Neal was trained in both military combat and the ways of his Native people, combining his commitment to freedom with his respect for the enemy, his technical fighting skills with his fierce warrior spirit.

From his first tour in Vietnam at 17 to fighting in both Gulf Wars, O'Neal was nothing less than a super-soldier. A minefield of aggression bordering on a justice-seeking vigilante, O'Neal kept fighting even when wounded, refusing to surrender in the face of nine serious injuries and being left more than once. O'Neal earned countless military honors as a member of the elite Army Rangers corps, a founding member of the legendary first Department of Defense antiterrorist team, a member of the Golden Knights Parachuting Team, and more, devoting his life to training the next generation of soldiers. His unbelievable true stories are both shocking and moving, a reminder of what it means to be a true American hero.

American Warrior will serve as inspiration for American men and women in uniform today, as well as appeal to the countless veterans who served their country alongside O'Neal.

I have to call bullshit

After my career in the Army, I can spot bullshit from a mile away. This story is straight up crap. In chapter 1 as he claims to have all these hundreds of kills, he says he never once killed a person that wasn't trying to kill him. By chapter 3 he talks about throwing frag grenades in a house and killing a family including 2 little girls while trying to get a VC fighter that was shooting at him.

By the time chapter 4 started, I was done. Stolen Valor at it's best. This is a combination of fiction movie plots, plagiarism from SOG stories, and complete fantasy. This PX ranger should be sued and charged for profiting off stolen Valor. More importantly, he needs his ass kicked for trying to make real Soldiers look like Hollywood Rambo characters.

Wow, this is a crock of lies

I must have read 50 books on audible about various memoirs about peoples time in special operations. But this guy is so full of himself and BS it is unbelievable. It is literally lie after lie as if he is sitting in a bar drunk telling tall tales and decided to turn it into a book. There’s not a fiery chance in hell that one individual managed to do all of these things and survive. I love how he said he rigged up a special backpack with 1200 rounds of 7.62X51 and ran around the jungle... Or ripped a individuals head clean off his body with his hands. This guy apparently has killed more people with his hands and knives then Chris Kyle did with a scopes rifle... If his story is true which I highly doubt it is this man is a true American bad ass.

Might sound a little far fetched

Like I said this book has some far fetched parts. With that being said let me also say I’m not a professional soldier so who am I to question.

Absolute American hero!

Gary is a total badass. As a former Ranger, we heard stories of the revered Gary O’Neal for years and finally after hearing his story, I completely understand how he feels about the world. He left the life of things we only see in movies, but he actually did it in real life. This book is a must listen/read. Also David does an incredible job performing while reading this unreal story
