slow burn and left me with tears in the end

it's a little different from the others, but it's a different type of story. Absolutely loved it.

Beautiful, unusual storytelling

It shouldn't be surprising that Agatha's story is unusual, adventurous, and a little bit sad. The way this love story carries on through the decades, weaving in and out of the other beloved Carriger narratives, is an extra delight. This story hooked me in unexpected ways and I found myself crying a little at the end. Really beautiful story.

Best of the set

Others are more exciting, but this one is surprisingly touching and simple. Worth reading all before it to understand the sideline stories along the way. Highly recommend, if you’ve read the main series.

A sudden audiobook allergy 😉

This is one of mu favourite books from this wonderful auther's pen. Maybe because it is written quite differantly, or just that I simply addor Agath and Pil as a couple.
I have to admit to quite a few moist eyes and a sniff or 3 too.

Love the story and the narrator.

Another fun Gail Carriger story! Enjoyed Pil and Aggert's story. Expert narration brought all the right emotion to the tale.

Someone needs to tell the narrator how to pronounce names. It’s very rattling and jarring to hear them pronounced so horribly!

Narrator, please listen to the other books and get into the mood of the stories! Learn about how the names work! I’ve been waiting for this book for ages and you’ve wrecked it! I will be returning it (sorry Gail)

My Favorite Delightfully Deadly Novella (so far)

So sweetly sad but satisfying. Have tissues handy at he end. For maximum reader enjoyment, this is not really a stand-alone.; it's best read in Ms. Carriger's written order and please complete the"Finishing School" series before you read this book.
Emma Newman does a lovely job narrating. She has read all of the Delightfully Deadlies so it's odd to see griping for this latest one. Name pronunciation is an issue when changing narrators in every single audiobook series I've listened to, especially those that have a world built which contains several intertwining series over many years. It is jarring at first, but please don't disparage the narrators. Choose to use context clues to clear up any confusion.
My 2 cents: This is a production issue; not a performance one.The actors should all be given a phonetic list of names and places as the author intends them to be pronounced to provide continuity for listeners. In audiobooks, these discrepancies correspond to changing the spelling of names and places in every new print volume in a series. Someone should have figured out by now that there are fundamental differences between audio and print and acted accordingly.

I'm not crying!!!

Ms Gail Carriger has done it again! A touching love story that has spanned over 4 decades, proves that love wins.

A Slow Burn

This starts slow, replaying events through Agatha's and Pillover's eyes. But the character development is wonderful! The narrator did a great job. Overall this was a very enjoyable listen. Definitely recommend. One caution, I do think this will be most enjoyable if you have read the rest of the series.

Not as good as Carriger's older stuff, but good.

I loved Carriger's earlier stuff. The parasol protectorate and finishing school series were both great, and while part of the problem is that I'm listening to this years after I went thru those, it seems to just lack something. The fact that it focuses in on just a few of the characters from the finishing school series is nice because it lets you get a deeper understanding of that character, but this is happening AFTER the series that made them so good. It does a nice job of summing up her life after finishing school, but somehow I just find myself wishing for the big picture of all the characters dealing with a problem instead of hopscotching thru this characters life.

Still, I loved her originals stuff and this is a nice complement to it. Recommended.
