We are that we are which is to say not as we should be.

How can we function as sophisticated emotional beings when we can neither understand nor control our emotions? Why do the very things that make us human cause us to feel ill at ease in our humanity? Why are we unable even to explain what it feels like to be alive? Were we made so imperfectly? No, of course not, it’s just that no-one ever explained to us the human condition. But with nature seeking to protect the life we bear and humankind passionately wanting to live it and survive, are not we and nature really on the same side? Yes, we are.

So, can we discover how to align our interests with Nature? Yes we can.

This book is nothing, if not about being human. It is a book that defines the human condition.

In explaining the human condition this book holds out the beguiling prospect of our being able to resolve the majority of our emotional problems in the future with far greater facility enabling us to take charge of our emotions and our lives, providing us with the chance to feel, for the very first time, truly comfortable in ourselves and at ease in our nature.

We did not come into this world with a manual. I hope this book will be the next best thing.
