Publisher's summary

Melody Thomas Scott admits she is nothing like her Young and the Restless role, who has seen it all in her 40-year tenure on America's highest-rated daytime serial. But the high drama, angst, and catastrophes aren't confined to her character's plotlines. In this captivating memoir, Melody reveals behind-the-scenes tales of her own riveting journey to stardom.

As Nikki went from impoverished stripper to resourceful, vivacious heroine, Melody became a household name, enthralling global audiences. Her road to stardom was also her road to personal freedom, marked by an escape fit for cinema. In Always Young and Restless, Melody tells of her troubled, untraditional upbringing for the first time.

Learn how she suffered at home with her grandmother, a compulsive hoarder, whose cruelty as her guardian is shockingly extreme, and endured abuse at the hands of industry men; what it was like to act in feature films with Alfred Hitchcock, John Wayne, and Clint Eastwood; and how she took control of her life and career in a daring getaway move. And of course, Melody divulges juicy on- and off-set details of what it's like to be one half of the show's most successful supercouple, "Niktor". In witty, warm prose, meet the shining, persevering heart of an American icon - and prepare to be moved by a life story fit for a soap-opera star.

Great autobiography on MelodvThomas Scott

I purchased Audible to listen to this book while I was working. Nice easy listening. Nothing I had to stop working to try to figure out. Just a nice relaxing story being read to me by Melody. Found out lots of new info about her, Nikki, and a few of the other stars of Y&R, plus alot of info of her as a teenager. my favorite part was how she went looking for a puppy, and the puppy picked HER out, much like mine did. Dogs sure can tell who is a good person and both of our dogs sure have good taste. Hope you all enjoy this book as much as I did.

I had no idea!

I have been a long time Young and the Restless fan since my grandmother introduced me back in the '70s. I remember when the Nikki stripper story came on and I've been with you ever since. Unfortunately I was one of those who thought you had a certain air about yourself but after hearing your story and the heartache of your childhood which is unimaginable, uou have certainly changed my mind. And when I think about why I might have thought that, it is because of the language that you use. But when you stop to think that you were raised by your grandmother who spoke words of a different generation, those were the words that you learned. People of our generation would have judged you to be snooty because of the language that you used. But it makes total sense now! Through this book I was able to see the loving heart that you have, the comedic timing and prankster in your soul. I am so thankful I took a chance and listened to this book.

A must read into the real life of Melody

Loved that Melody read her own book. Felt more personal and cozy. I have great admiration for her. Her episode with Kim Russo on " The Haunting of Melody Scott Thomas" intrigued me into wanting to read her biography. Greatly enjoyed the whole book. Felt like I made a new friend.

Amayzinly Graced

This was a great story. The only thing needed now is a biopic to follow. I lowkey need visuals cause my mind was not doing it justice. Although it was great details so I could definitely form an image. I felt like I learned so much and I appreciate the honesty. At times I was like this is bold and then it was like I’m like wowwww that’s unbelievable. Her confidence is something I have in common with her. I want to meet her even more and be a friend fan. In the end this got me through long hours at work and I fell even more in love with Nikki and Mel. I definitely feel her on the spiritual connections. I’m sending hopes and wishes for her dream to be a New York Times best seller. Also I loved Dana at the end it just affirms all the admiration I was feeling. Blessings love Grace.

Oh my! While I’ve always loved Melody and her character, Nikki, I’ve never imagined that she is so down to earth and simply just normal. I loved getting to know her in this book and now I MUST find a way to meet her. Thank you Melody for such a candid look at your life! Not only did she tell of her life but she told some stories that I can remember so well. Loved this book so much and Love you Mel!

Love this memoir

I have watched Y&R since it premiered and listening to Melody Thomas Scott narrate her memoir was a real treat to me. I love that she gave us the good, bad, and the ugly. What impressed me the most was when she wanted to correct misconceptions that others had said about her, she kept it simple and relayed the facts. She did not try and hurt others with disparaging personal comments. What a classy lady. Really enjoyed listening to it.

She’s the real deal

Melody Thomas Scott seems like a truly lovely person. Her life is fascinating.
By fascinating I mean frightening in many aspects, she has been through hell. Amazingly interesting in many aspects, you don’t get to where she is from where she started without some fascinating stories and experiences. She tells it all, and there is definitely good, bad and ugly. You will fall in love with her even more than you already are. She’s a survivor and a happy survivor at that.
