"At the aural epicenter, Robb Moreira and Sura Siu alternate between protagonists Aldo and Regan’s perspectives. The listener is immersed into their sharply distinct, mundane, yet complex worlds..."- Booklist

Narrated primarily by Robb Moreira and Sura Siu, this program features a cast of cameos, including one from the author.

From Olivie Blake, the
New York Times bestselling author of The Atlas Six, comes an intimate and contemporary study of time, space, and the nature of love. Alone with You in the Ether explores what it means to be unwell, and how to face the fractures of yourself and still love as if you're not broken.

CHICAGO, SOMETIME—
Two people meet in the Art Institute by chance. Prior to their encounter, he is a doctoral student who manages his destructive thoughts with compulsive calculations about time travel; she is a bipolar counterfeit artist, undergoing court-ordered psychotherapy. By the end of the story, these things will still be true. But this is not a story about endings.

For Regan, people are predictable and tedious, including and perhaps especially herself. She copes with the dreariness of existence by living impulsively, imagining a new, alternate timeline being created in the wake of every rash decision.

To Aldo, the world feels disturbingly chaotic. He gets through his days by erecting a wall of routine: a backbeat of rules and formulas that keep him going. Without them, the entire framework of his existence would collapse.

For Regan and Aldo, life has been a matter of resigning themselves to the blueprints of inevitability—until the two meet. Could six conversations with a stranger be the variable that shakes up the entire simulation?

I love the writing style of Olivie! She is so talented and very creative, it is a magnet that draws me in. This story is intriguing and engaging. I did have to stop occasionally to ponder it and relate. I could watch it like a movie. It was captivating!

Intriguing

The performance was a little confusing at first; primary narrators had some good bouts of bringing the characters to life, but in my opinion, there were a lot of scenes that could've been done differently.
Overall bittersweet story; one that comes to full circle.

The perfect circle.

I honestly wasn’t sure what to think of this book. But the writing was so different than it had me hooked, yet a little confused in the beginning. Once I got used to the authors writing style, I fell in love with the characters. I am definitely going to have to go back to read this, so I can highlight my favorite quotes. What a great book it was so different and so cool I don’t even know what to say.

Lyrical and mesmerizing

For someone who hasn't had or lived around the mental perspectives depicted in this story, I absolutely ADORED this story. I feel that I can understand a larger segment of humanity now, and I thank you so much for sharing this rawness with us. I cannot wait to read more of your novels.

Wow

One reader on good reads called this a pretty outer shell with no substance. I’m inclined to agree. The characters aren’t actually complex and their faux complexity hides a very simple and stereotypical “genius” and manic pixie dream girl. Not even a satire of this type of story. I have an hour left and I don’t think I can make it!

Wow. I have a hard time wrapping my head around the beauty and creativity of Olivie’s writing. The work is only highlighted further with the phenomenal narrative performance. I have listened to easily over 500 audibles, this one absolutely tops them all. What a beautiful story. So grateful to have come across this book.

I heard so much hype about this book, but it just didn’t do it for me. I found the authors personal story at the end much more interesting and moving.

Wanted to love it

I need to come back to this because it was a incredibly emotional and moving book. I do love the unconditional love shown and the opposite. The raw feelings of what others think and how to cope. To say I love this book is quite an understatement. I wasn’t expecting this. The narrators were perfect and thank you Olivie for giving us this book.

Hexagonal masterpiece

Felt strangely validating to spend a story in a mind that feels so similar to mine. As someone who has struggled so much with mental health, it was really refreshing to indulge in a story that could put into words what my internal world feels like.

This was beautiful.
