Publisher's Summary

Brought to you by Penguin.

The first girl came back.

The next might not be so lucky.

A girl is taken from the streets of Oxford. But it's unlike any abduction DI Fawley's seen before....

Faith Appleford was attacked, a plastic bag tied over her head, taken to an isolated location...and then, by some miracle, she escaped.

What's more, when DC Erica Somer interviews Faith, she quickly becomes convinced that Faith knows who her abductor is.

Yet Faith refuses to press charges.

Without more evidence, it's looking like the police may have to drop the case.

But what happens if Faith's attacker strikes again?

Distracted

Loved the book but found the sounds effects of keyboards etc really distracting. They did not enhance the book in any way. It was just odd.

Good plot

A great plot excellent narration my only complaint would be the long winded hashtags and @ email/website addresses they seemed to take forever to say.... the story reflects the pressures of modern lives for young people very effectively, believable plot. Will read more from this author

Good story and narrator but audio effect annoying!

I love the DI Fawley series, although I think this book went in a totally different direction to the other three. The story was strong and the plot was good, although there is a lot of swearing near the beginning when the first case opens and the team begin investigating regarding an online chat room. The profanity, in my opinion, should be criminal in itself. The narration itself is spot on, but I found the extra sound effects such as phone pings and typewriter effects very annoying! The other books didn't have them, but for some reason they were included in this audio version. I only hope they aren't added to her next audiobook! The ended of this book is left wide open for her next, which I am very much looking forward too, considering the closing words of that last chapter!

Clever twist

in the story of Inspector Fawley himself that makes this a little more than the usual murder case. This is an excellent series split well between the two narrators who are outstanding. If you are new to the series start at book 1.

Good series

This has been an enjoyable series and I hope we will continue to hear about Adam et al. in the future. The narration was excellent, as ever.

Good read with a twist near the end

I enjoyed hearing this book a little more than reading it. When reading it I got distracted by the letters emails and other forms of communication that constantly appeared. I started to ignore the additional forms of communication when reading it. However, when I listened to it they all made sense because they were read in a different voice and they all became part of the story. This is the first book by this author I have read and I liked it despite my comments above. I expected a twist at the end but it wasn't what I expected and was a little disappointed. I will read the next book in the series and this time just listen to it. I think the back story should be interesting to see how it pans out. Nice read

Another great book!

Thanks again Cara Hunter for another terrific read, I really enjoyed this one. Lee Ingleby, one of my favourite actors and narrators and Emma Cuniffe - with one reservation. As is my way may I gently remind Emma Cuniffe to please be more careful with her pronunciation. While I generally enjoy her reading it is annoying to hear an otherwise professional narration somewhat ruined by her habit of awarding words ending ......thing with a K as the last letter instead of a G! Please, please do not read somethink, anythink, nothink, everythink Emma Cuniffe, it's something, anything, nothing, everything etc etc etc..... Thank heavens for small mercies, you don't replace the 'th' in the middle of the words with an 'f' to ruin the reading altogether.
