Dolores Meredith tries to match the homes she sells with the perfect buyer. So when Austin Barclay moves to town and wants to buy her very favorite property - the beautiful but neglected Leland House - she suspects that he might be someone special.

As Austin lovingly restores the home to its former glory, their mutual interest in the work-in-progress, and in each other, eventually grows into a wonderful, if unexpected, love affair. But happily-ever-after happens in fairy tales. And the love of Austin and Dolores will be tested in ways neither ever expected.

The lovers' story is written in a rich, compelling style heightened by recurrent themes from the poetry of Emily Dickinson.

This was a good book with really great character development. The narration was also extremely well done. The story seemed to get a little bogged down toward the end, but overall it was a very good.

Good Book!

Half way thru this happy, nobody has any problems, life is too good to be true fairy tale, I actually had to go to Amazon.com and read the synopsis of the book to see what finally happened to NOT make their relationship "happily every after". Once I determined what happens (and who knows how many more hours of drivel listening that would have taken), I decided it wasn't worth it to suffer thru any longer. I love listening to the narrator, Sandra Burr, but not this time; and to be fair, I don't know if it is the book she's reading, or the voices she did -- I don't know, but I got tired of her. The guy who read the male chapters -- eh -- not impressed. I'm glad I got it on sale but it was still a waste of money

Boring
