Publisher's summary

Every night, 17-year-old Reeve Lennox finds herself under a noose.

By day she is a lady of Acarsaid's royal house, daydreaming of adventure and love. But every night in sleep she wanders through a nightmarish city, an invisible witness to the screeches of monsters and the screams of their victims. Her only consolation is Bran, a battle-torn young man with a selfless heart and eyes that reflect the stars.

Yet while Reeve falls deeper into her dreams, in truth she is engaged to Arden, a mercurial nobleman who has long been cured of his belief in love and breathes fire and flattery like other people breathe air.

Torn between two lives, Reeve struggles to remember what's real. Until night and day collide, with a revelation that threatens all of Acarsaid.

Can't get enough of this YA Fantasy/young romance

Reeve Lennox is a lady of the court of Acarsaid. During the day, life is good, easy, peaceful. During the night, she dreams herself to Tenebris, a world full of darkness, ravenous falcons, death... danger. But also Bran. The man that turns her nightmares into dreams.
Reeve is also invisible in this world, watching everyone without being noticed, but also safe from the danger in the world.
Until she isn't anymore. On her 18th birthday, she is seen for the first time. What follows turns her whole world upside down, both during the day and the night.

I am a huge fan of both Kristina Mahr's writing and Kim Churchill's narration. I didn't want to put it down for even a second.
I really appreciate Mahr's delicate balance between establishing this fantasy world, developing the characters as well as the various relationships - you can't help but end up rooting for Reeve's guards almost as much as for herself.
An Kim does a wonderful job in the narration, too. It flows very well and the various emotions of the overall scene and the characters themselves are beautifully crafted and layered.

It's definitely worth listening to both titles in order; Book 1 primarily builds the world, sets the stage, introduces some conflict (all of which is interesting), but it's crafted in a way that needs Book 2 for showdown and resolution.

Omg!! Help! I need to know more! I’ll definitely be looking for the sequel. Good story and narration. Really sad that it ended.
