Publisher's summary

Set 300 years after the events of Alien: Out of the Shadows and Alien: River of Pain, Alien: Sea of Sorrows deals with the rediscovery of dormant Xenomorphs (Aliens) in the abandoned mines of LV-178, the planetoid from Alien: Out of the Shadows, which has now been terraformed and renamed New Galveston.

The Weyland-Yutani Corporation, reformed after the collapse of the United Systems Military, continue their unceasing efforts to weaponise the creatures, eliciting the help of Alan Decker, who is forced to join a team of mercenaries sent to investigate an ancient excavation lurking deep beneath the planet's toxic desert, dubbed the Sea of Sorrows.

Somewhere in that long-forgotten dig lies the thing the company wants most in the universe - a living Xenomorph. Decker doesn't understand why the company needs him until his genetic heritage comes back to haunt him. Centuries ago one of his ancestors fought the Aliens, launching a bloody vendetta that was never satisfied. That was when the creatures swore revenge on his forbear, 'the Destroyer', Ellen Ripley...and all her descendants.

This terrifying, cinematic multicast dramatisation - directed by the multiaward-winning Dirk Maggs, best known for his adaptations of Douglas Adams' Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and Neil Gaiman's Neverwhere for the BBC - is the sequel to Audible Originals' Alien: Out of the Shadows (nominated for Best Audio Drama at the 2017 Audies) and Alien: River of Pain.

Full cast: Tom Alexander, Mark Arnold, Sagar Arya, Pippa Bennett-Warner, Laurence Bouvard, Philip Bullcock, John Chancer, Stockard Channing, Cedric Cirotteau, Simon Darwen, Andrea Deck, Oris Erhuero, Tony Gardner, Walles Hamonde, Andrew James Spooner, Lorelei King, Tayla Kovacevic Ebong, Laurel Lefkow, Sandra-Mae Luyck, Theo Maggs, Alan Marriott, Gary Martin, Pauline Mclynn, Eric Meyers, Naoko Mori, Sarah Pitard, Kerry Shale, Thomas Stroppell, Emma Swan, Martin T Sherman, Steve Toussaint and Ryan Wichert.

What A Ride!!!!

Where does Alien: Sea of Sorrows rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Among all three books this stands on equal footing. Why because each of the three upon reading the books you'll see that each novel had a different style and feel to their story telling and so did the audio drama in the way it was told.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Alien: Sea of Sorrows?

Oh the moment they see the ship and how the sound and description was put. Whats Facinating is how the were also able to put all the previous audio drama as one and retell their tale. Amazing work. I think that this is better than the movies. If they ever decide to make a movie of this then I'm hooked.

What about the narrators’s performance did you like?

Superb performance, but after two prior alien audio books, I was starting to recognize the casts voices and how they played prior role. Like I couldn't believe that Andrea Deck who played both Amanda Ripley from the Alien isolation Game and Dr Kasaynov in Alien out of the shadows was playing a role here as well. It was amazing to hear that

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Sea of Sorrows

Any additional comments?

I loved this. I loved the drama. I loved how this drama was able to open my imagination so deep. I loved the sound effect and atmosphere it made you feel simply by the sound. I loved it a lot.
I hope they really make a move of it. But I hope the audible team continues with dramas like these for the Alien Franchise as well.

Good Narrations, So So Book

This is by far the lesser of the series, but the cast made it better than it was

Great dramatic performance

I found myself wishing it was just a little longer. there are a couple of "twists" that make pretty good sense when you consider the facts. I did thoroughly enjoy it.

This is the 3rd or 4th book in the Aliens series that I have listened to recently. I'll probably continue to listen to the series to fuel my SciFi addiction.

Better than expected based on the first two.

This is my first review. I'm writing this in hopes that this series continues. This was very enjoyable for many reasons. Thanks for providing what the lack luster movies couldn't ie the suspense. the great story and compelling believeable characters.

Another great in the Alien Original Series!!!

I enjoyed the narration, performance and story. This one leaves you wanting to find out what happens next with a very strong ending. Decker as a character had a nice twist and the other characters were nicely done. There was a few good laughs in this one and as always the sound effects were awesome. You could once again feel the Aliens coming and your heart starts pounding when hearing the action and fighting. Double thumbs up and a great job by the cast and entire team.

Loved it

Enjoyed a new perspective. Felt a little short but still worth a listen. I would recommend listening to books 3+4 first in order to understand the significance of certain chapters.
