As a paramedic, Alaina Stafford knew that every shift would have its surprises. But being abducted by alien slave traders? There's no preparation for that kind of surprise.

Before she can wrap her head around it, Alaina is sold at a high-dollar auction to be the new "donara" for a powerful, wealthy Errai family. It doesn't take long to find out what a "donara" is...it's the reward for the gladiator who wins in the arena.

Alaina is to be the victor's prize.

Vega is the house favorite among the slave warriors, and crowds come from across the galaxy to watch him in the arena. Unlike the other fighters, he's not swayed by the promise of winning this strange human woman. His real prize - his freedom - is within his grasp, and he won't be distracted from the chance to return home by some fragile but exotic beauty from a planet called Earth.

But there's a vicious political power play at hand, and both Vega and Alaina stand to lose everything. Thrown together and forced to rely on each other, they soon realize that love may actually be worth dying for.

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

I'm not particularly a fan of the fantasy/paranormal romance categories but have found a few series that fall into that genre that I have enjoyed. Kresley Cole, and Laurel K Hamilton are among my favorites. That's why I decided to take a chance with this one. At first I was getting into the story but I soon began to lose interest as it was very romance novel-like with the breathless love, and what not. I ultimately found myself glad it was finally over. The narrator was good, but I just found that there wasn't enough other content to keep my interest. If you are a big love story, romance novel fan, this ones for you. Otherwise, I'd suggest finding something geared more towards guys. :)

Less science fiction, more romance novel

This book grab me from chapter one it was well written and had a good plot even if a bit predictable. All the characters were good playing their parts. Alien falls for a human and is determined to win her freedom but there twist you don't see coming. I like all the females were strong wii. Not to worry though it come with a HEN. The narration was good. Wroth a credit in book.

I enjoyed this audiobook very much. I think it had a good plot and characters that were likable. The only thing I'd change would be to have 2 narrators, as the woman's voice didn't do justice to the male characters.

Good story

Narration: I was impressed with the character voices, it must be tough to work out what an alien should sound like. The narration was smooth and flowing and conveyed lots of emotion.

Story: A lesson in morality wrapped in a captivating story lead by a human woman who’s strong, capable and not about to accept her less than ideal circumstances. This is one woman who is not going to sit back and wait to be saved, oh no, she’s hard at work trying to save herself.

You can’t help but want ?? to succeed and I quickly found myself mentally giving her advice (which strangely she didn’t follow).

The story is sweet, contains some hot sexy times with an alien and reminds us all that slavery is wrong. This story is captivating because the alien world ?? finds herself in is very similar to historical earth, it makes it quickly and easily relatable which gets you hooked.

It wraps up beautifully yet I can’t help but wish there was a book 2.

Alaina is abducted by alien slave traders and auctioned off to a wealthy family. Instead of wars, conflicts are settled by gladiators in an arena. Alaina is to serve as a "donara", which is basically a sex slave for the winning gladiator. She falls in love with Vega, a slave warrior, but unfortunately her boss is in love with the same man. Alaina and Vega must fight for both their love and their freedom.

Overall I really enjoyed Alien Conquest and I liked Alaina's spirit and strength. It was refreshing to see a woman save the day, instead of a man. The narration was well done and I would recommend this.

This audiobook was given to me for a honest unbiased review. This was well done. Loved the conflict, not just another conflict between lovers, but real conflict. Loved the strong female character's will, strong without being stupid.

Well done

I have to admit, I am like most Audioiltes I scan the reviews before I buy. The reviews on this book had me intrigued. So I plunked down my credit and had a listen. I have to admit, it was overall a good listen and the reader was great. However, after the big triumph, the book fell flat. It was just a quick wrap up summary that just left me feeling a bit disappointed.

Great Book But Fizzled at the end

This has a good beginning, unfortunately I then lost interest. It took me several tries to finish it, I finally finished it in 4 days. Then all the sudden it got my attention again. I won't spoil it for you but it does end with a twist.

Alien Gladiators in space with a Spartacus feel.

Enjoyable story with an entertaining plot, good characters, some steamy romance, a HEA and a great epilogue. It's was a bit different than most of the Alien/Human stories I have read. The setup for the story was different and a nice surprise, with a few unexpected twists, but the story itself was predictable for the most part. The story was really good, but with a little more action and suspense it would have been great.

Not only are humans kidnapped but other Alien races serve this ruling house. They have to fight for their freedom. Alaina is kidnapped from Earth by another human and delivered to an Alien race for slavery. Even finding herself in this unimaginable situation Alaina doesn't "accept" her fate. She is determined to find a way out the situation. When she meets Vega a warrior captive the attraction is instant. Vega is determined to win his freedom in the arena. When Alaina acts without thinking in order to help Vega things change for both of them. Together and with a little help from an unexpected source they may just survive and win their freedom from their masters.

Addison Spear did a really good job with the narration. Pleasant voice. Easy to listen to for long periods of time. Clearly spoken with a nice even pace. Good character voices. She was able to make the story and characters come to life. Very enjoyable.
