In space, no one can hear you cheering

Enriches the movie wonderfully. Beautifully well-written and answers questions the film doesn't have time for.

Peter Guinness rules

Guinness makes this audiobook a proper pleasure to listen to. Foster's language is rich. The book is not as brilliant as the filmatization, but Guinness really brings it to life. Pure chilling joy.

Wordy

I like the subject matter and the storyline, but there’s too much explanation and description. It takes away from the telling of the story. The movie had the right amount of “Wordiness” !

Good to refresh the movie

I love this Alien series and I've watched the movie several time. This book is practically like living the story another time.

I definitely prefer the audible originals made with sounds and different voices though.

Great novelization of the first Alien movie

This is my 4th Alien book and I loved it. This is a novelization of the first movie, which I haven't seen since around the time it came out. The story still shocks. We get sucked into the characters, some of which you might like more than others. I did scream a few times and got scared even when I remembered the basics of what happened.

The narration seemed a little flat in the beginning, but I felt that it lent itself to the action of the book. The narrator's sometimes very calm demeanor was good as a backdrop to the terrors that were about to happen. I plan to listen to a lot more of the Alien books. If you're listening I suggest "Alien: Out of the Shadows" by Tim Lebbon. That book was dramatized and scared the bejesus out of me. It's my favorite so far, and this is my second favorite. It really holds up after all these years!

I love the Alien franchise, I’ve seen all of the movies and there have been some hit and Miss mostly the newer ones are bad but the the original 3 are classics and now that I get to listen to the books it’s amazing!

Wonderful

As a huge fan of Alien I loved hearing the early script format of the movie. A few differences between the novel and movie obviously, some are for the better. If you have any interest in hearing what could of been listen to this. Also look into the story behind the writing of this Novelization. It is interesting for sure. Also the dude who left a low score because the last hour is just an advertisement for Aliens needs to grow up and get over himself. Sorry you can't skip the last hour. Acting like they CUT segments to fit the advertisement. The story ends when the story ends regardless of an Ad. Looking at his review it's clear he doesn't know what a Novelization is and is infact, not a "Big Fan".

Monotone Reader

I did enjoy the story, hell it's based on one of my all time favorite movies and they mostly kept to the story, but the orator left something to be desired since I couldn't always tell who he was trying to portray.

Flattened by the performance

Surely everyone has seen the film? So you know the characters. Well, they don't make it through this reading. The delivery is robbed of emotion and suspense. It's kind of like listening to the narration on Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, not as much emotion as the book. It's hard to believe someone could have seen the film and then deliver such a downbeat and homogeneous reading. The characters were sort of recognizable.

Little has changed from the movie, but some things have. But just small things. If you demanded an example, avoiding spoilers... well a scene in the mess that was opto-hydraulic in the film is all printed circuit boards and wires in the book. Which is like going back to the steam age. It doesn't detract from the story.

It is interesting to have the internal dialogue from the characters. It adds to the story and makes up for some of what the delivery removed. With a different narrator this would be a five star experience, like the movie.

Ripley kicks alien butt!

I love the movie and I love the audible book, which is the official movie novelization, so there are no surprises here if you are a fan of the movie. The audible book is just good solid writing and storytelling, which I found highly entertaining.
