Alexander was born into the royal family of Macedonia, the kingdom that would soon rule over Greece. As Freeman explains, without Alexander, the influence of Greece on the ancient world would surely not have been as great as it was, even if his motivation was not to spread Greek culture for beneficial purposes, but instead to unify his empire.

Highly recommended

Engaging and entertaining with excellent narration! I have only ever passingly been interested in Alexander's campaign, but this book changed that for me. I would definitely be listening to this again!

Why Alexander is Great!

Narrator was excellent! Diction and pauses were right on time, great character back story and development.

Fascinating

This was a great opportunity to learn. I have always wondered about Alexander the Great. Now I know he was a blood thirsty, self-aggrandizing man. I'm not sure I understand the drive to take over the world and not taking the time to enjoy life.

Priceless value

This is one of the books that helped me expand the horizons of understanding modern civilization. Very well preserved part of history manifesting the genius of Alexander the great! Really a fascinating book!

Great insight to Alexander the Greats life!

I very much enjoyed that the author made points to provide insite to the various speculations that are out there.
It was also very enjoyable to be able to hear a full sequence of what lead Alexander the Great to become what he was, through his life, and the out come after his life.

This is the book about Alexander for which I have always sought after, and was never able to acquire…. Top notch narrator too.
One of my all time favorites for sure.
