Publisher's summary

Craig Beck is a well-regarded family man with two children, a nice home, and a successful media career; a director of several companies and at one time the trustee of a large children’s charity. Outwardly, Craig was a highly successful and functioning professional man in spite of a ‘two-bottles-of-wine-a-night" drinking habit.

For 20 years he struggled to control his drinking, all the time refusing to label himself an alcoholic because he didn't believe he met the stereotypical image that the word portrayed. He tried countless ways to cut down; attempting ‘dry months’, banning himself from drinking spirits, only drinking at the weekend and special occasions (and found that it is amazing how even the smallest of event can suddenly become ‘special’).

All these 'willpower' based attempts to stop drinking failed (exactly as they were destined to do). Slowly he discovered the truth about alcohol addiction and one by one all the lies he had previously believed started to fall apart. For the first time he noticed that he genuinely didn’t want to drink anymore. In this book he will lead you though the same amazing process.

Craig is known around the world as "The Stop Drinking Expert" and many thousands of people just like you have quit drinking using his method. This updated edition of the best-selling Alcohol Lied to Me is new for 2014.

No need to declare yourself an alcoholic. A permanent cure, not a lifetime struggle. No group meetings or expensive rehab. No humiliation, no pain, and 100% no ‘will power’ required. Treats the source of the problem not the symptoms.

Outstanding!

When you look at things differently the things you look at change. This book is ideal in helping you see alcohol different than you ever have before. It's not offensive or annoying and leaves you excited to start a new chapter in your life. Narrator does a fantastic job.

Great Read/Listen - great insights on addiction

This is a great book! Craig has done his homework and can provide you with real facts on alcohol, the influence of society, advertising, family, etc. He provides you with lots of information on alcohol along with very practical tips on how to quit drinking and remain alcohol free with an emphasis on living a better life.

There is no guilt or shame - just lots of facts and very practical tools you can use in every day life. He really walks you through the readiness to change model - and moves you from contemplation into action.

He is positive, uplifting and practical. He's a definite Brit - very matter of fact.

It's a great read - straight forward and easy to follow.

Problem drinker

I like the explanation between problem drinker and alcoholic. The negative connotation with that make most people afraid to see help or else be labeled.

Amazing

This book is amazing. Being a man of science it really hits home for me because it's so science-based. Something I can really relate to. It explains in detail what exactly alcohol does to you and also the ways to beat it. I highly recommend this book.

Craig Beck is my hero!

I have been trying to stop drinking for over ten years. I have admitted myself into the hospital six times to medically detox due to my tremors when trying to stop drinking. I always feel amazing when I get this poison out of my body but then someone will encourage me to just have one glass of wine with them. I always get back to my two bottles a night within less than a month and feel like a failure.
I have read other books and tried AA but nothing has clicked for me until now. Thank you Craig and I'm excited to continue to listen to as many of your books as possible. -Marie age 45 USA

Seriously Helpful book. Excellent techniques.

The author provides personal insight and research to help the reader understand their need to drink then offers simple yet effective techniques to help the reader make choice to not drink. The book is not a "cure" but a beginning to an understanding of why the reader should not drink.
