Last chapters weren’t that great but early chapters were good. Later chapters started to go into non agent related topics.

Agent specific topics were good

While there are some good points the authors bring up, this is ultimately a very annoying book to listen to because of the robotic AI-sounding voice of the narrator. It seems to be an AI voice of whoever they claim is the narrator. I don’t know how a real person could sound like that.

Awful robotic AI voice

Agentic Artificial Intelligence is an incredibly insightful read. As I build my own AI agents, I found the book both practical and inspiring. Pascal Bornet and his co-authors do a great job of breaking down complex ideas and showing real-world applications. It’s a clear guide to where AI is headed and how we can use it to make an impact. Highly recommended.

Great Book!

This book lays the foundation for how to understand AI Agents and what to look for when starting to use them. The authors provide many insights, and teach with examples that they personally experienced.

This book is one I am going to read over and over again to ensure I collect a great foundation, and understand the common pitfalls to avoid.

Agentic Artificial Intelligence is one of the most practical and forward-thinking books I’ve read on the future of autonomous systems. As someone who has spent the last two decades building agent-based architectures for government healthcare systems, I found the framework around the five levels of agentic AI to be both validating and inspiring.

What struck me most was how accurately the authors captured the shift from reactive automation to proactive, intelligent agents. At our company, CITIZ3N (a Softheon subsidiary), we’ve been operating at Levels 3–4 for years—running nearly 1,400 backend agents in production across ACA and Medicaid platforms. This book finally gives the industry language to describe what’s happening under the hood of systems that are truly evolving.

Whether you’re in tech, policy, or public sector innovation, this is a must-read. It’s accessible, grounded, and actionable—and will leave you asking: Am I ready for what’s already here?

Narration seems to be AI generated but is still pretty good.

This is a good foundation for both leaders looking to explore AI agents and for developers that want to build a foundation. Thanks emphasis on understanding process and data is an often ignored element in AI development.

Excellent work to get started with Agentiv Azi

This work is one of the rare contributions to the growing “agentic AI” discourse that manages to be both pragmatic and unflinchingly accurate in its treatment of today’s AIogenic challenges.

What It Gets Right

Unlike speculative futurist texts or overly technical treatises, this book threads the needle between practical application and structural critique. It recognizes that agentic AI—systems that act with purpose, autonomy, and memory—are not merely technical constructs but socio-economic actors reshaping labor, governance, and even the ontology of decision-making.

The author succeeds in grounding their arguments in current realities rather than distant hypotheticals. Case studies span enterprise adoption, regulatory struggles, misinformation, and cultural displacement—each framed in a way that illuminates the real challenges practitioners and policymakers face.

Balance Between Vision and Caution

What stands out is the measured pragmatism:
• The book neither glorifies AI as inevitable salvation nor condemns it as existential catastrophe.
• Instead, it presents AI as a set of tools and agents—fallible, powerful, and shaped by human incentives.
• The discussion of “AIogenic” risks (bias replication, opaque reasoning chains, systemic fragility) is rigorous, yet the author consistently shows pathways toward responsible design, governance, and oversight.

Intellectual Contribution

The book introduces a fresh conceptual vocabulary for understanding agentic AI, including:
• Pragmatic autonomy – distinguishing narrow, bounded autonomy from unchecked independence.
• Contextual intelligence – how agentic AI must be measured not only on outputs but on adaptability to evolving human frameworks.
• Ethical interoperability – the recognition that AI must operate across jurisdictions, cultures, and values without collapsing into lowest-common-denominator ethics.

These frameworks give readers practical handles for navigating complexity—whether they are engineers, policymakers, or curious generalists.

Why It Matters Now

In a world where AI is already authoring reports, trading assets, running workflows, and influencing elections, clarity is in short supply. This book doesn’t pander to hype nor retreat to ivory-tower abstraction. Instead, it provides a realist roadmap—a way to acknowledge the immense challenges without paralysis, and to act with both ambition and caution.

Verdict

If you’re searching for a book that cuts through noise and offers a pragmatic yet profound exploration of agentic AI’s role in shaping society, this is it. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to understand not just where AI might go, but where it already is—and what we can still choose to make of it
