Agent of Prophecy, book one

A 17-year-old princess's life of leisure has been shattered when an ancient prophecy forces her into the role of an assassin and guardian. It's that or death to her and everyone she loves.

Arabelle is the daughter of a merchant king whose life of leisure is shattered when she's attacked by a poisonous creature that hasn't walked the land in over five centuries. Unfortunately, she finds herself an unwitting agent of an ancient prophecy that promises death to her and all she loves.

To avoid such a fate, all she has to do is overcome the debilitating effects of the poison coursing through her veins, find the heirs to the prophecy, and help them overthrow a despot who's been ruling the land with an iron fist for nearly five centuries. As an agent of the prophecy, she has no other choice.

Heirs of Prophecy, book two

Seventeen-year-old Ryan Riverton and his family are exploring some ancient caves when an earthquake turns their world upside-down.

The Rivertons find themselves in a new land that they’re completely unprepared for. Tjeu are subjects of an ancient prophecy that predicted their arrival, and their arrival doesn’t go unnoticed. The tyrant that rules over this new land is looking for them.

very well done

I may have a weakness to this kind of stories and it has been surprising fun and exciting adventure. I enjoy the story progression the building of the world and anything that walks around it it is really well done it feels like a joyful adventure of discovery well snow new earth shadowing concepts in it it is not necessary well done

Mediocre at best, narration seriously bad

Narration first; every female voice is simpering, submissive, weak and frightened, even when they’re showing courage and grit. A lot of cringeworthy moments with wheezy breathy narration or satire-like depiction of the bad guys voices.
It’s like there are only 3 voices with a slight inflection, the bad guys which are comical in their evil voices, the brave guys which are all the good guys (male only) and the women which are timid and submissive.

The story is sexist, tropes and formulas and two-dimensional characters; so maybe that’s why the narration is as it is? Formula book with formula voices??
It is not all completely bad, just not worth a credit in my books. Thankfully this was included in my membership. I don’t care enough about the characters or the outcome to get the next book in the series though, not even to check if it’s included too.

A good start to a series

There's a lot of interesting ideas and some good world building to make a good start to a series that made me interested to want to start the next book.

I really got lost in the story.

This is my first M.A. Rothman listen. Usually when listening to audio books I tend to think about where is the story going, how the protagonist will handle the upcoming and obvious situation, or how the book is going to end. For the first time in a long time I really just got lost just enjoying the story. I was just completely floored by several revelations that I assume were supposed to be twist. I was just enjoying the story and didn't put the links together that are so obvious in retrospect. Mr. Rothman certainly has a talent for keeping a pace that doesn't leave my mind wandering.
