Publisher's Summary

An unabridged reading of an Agatha Raisin mystery from M. C. Beaton, read by Penelope Keith.

There may be trouble ahead... so will Agatha face the music? Can the feisty Agatha cut it as a private investigator? She soon learns that running her own detective agency in the Cotswolds is not quite like starring in a Raymond Chandler movie. But then walks in wealthy divorcee Catherine Laggat-Brown, and Agatha is given her first real case.

Death threats, blackmail and physical attack soon follow, and once again Agatha is off scouring the countryside for clues and showing friends and enemies alike what Raisin Investigations can do!

Addictive

Penelope Keith and MC Beaton are a wonderful combination. Penelope loves and relishes the character she has made her own - Agatha Raisin. Her grasp of different character voices is a treat.
This story is long, with the main protagonists not arriving on the scene until just before chapter 3.
No idea why it is titled the Deadly Dance. Good value.

love these stories

agatha raisin is in all of us. these are silly but highly entertaining stories. I love Penelope Keith's narration and intend to listen to everyone in the series, however unbelievable they are. Just genuinely enjoyable.

Engaging

So sad that M C Beaton has passed away and there will be no more stories about Agatha. Thankful I can listen to all her stories again.

Best book in the series so far!

I am pleasantly surprised at how much I have enjoyed books 14 and 15 in the series. I have listened until now only for the beauty of Penelope Keith's reading of the books. Except for "The Witch of Wyckhadden," the novels were forgettable, and most of the time, I found Agatha's emotional immaturity and obsession with men almost unbearably irritating.
However, at this point, I have got used to Agatha's bad choices and often ridiculous behaviour. More importantly, "The Haunted House" and "The Deadly Dance" are, in my opinion, better plotted and more entertaining and mysterious than all the previous books in the series.
I don't know if M.C. Beaton took a break after writing the first thirteen books or decided to change the direction of the series, but books 14 and 15 feel different. And enjoyably so! I'm looking forward to seeing where the series and Agatha's adventures lead.
Overall, a great mystery beautifully read. Highly recommended!

Another good read....

Agatha Raisin is as always.... good. So is Penelope Keith reading the story. I cannot imagine anyone else doing the dialogue. Agatha reminds me of myself.

Preposterous and Hysterical

These books are not literature. The daft plots are peopled by monsters, except the vicar's wife who is a saint. Agatha is a wonderful fright. I never fail to be horrified when I see myself in some of her more ridiculous qualities.
The story of this one is actually even sillier than usual but the moment when we meet Madame Zora reading fortunes at Sir Charles' fete and hear the line "Madame Zora was Gustav", delivered in impeccable deadpan by the always wonderful Penelope Keith, you know you're on solid ground.
So funny.
I have 15 of the series and will probably keep buying them. Highly addictive so be warned.
