Publisher's Summary
Private Detective Agatha Raisin immerses herself in the glittering lifestyle of the fabulously wealthy when Sir Charles Fraith is accused of murder - and Agatha is named as his accomplice!
A high-society wedding, a glitzy masked ball and an introduction to the world of international show-jumping, where the riders are glamorous, the horses are beautiful and intrigue runs deep, leave Agatha with a list of suspects as long as a stallion's tail.
Sinister evidence then emerges that appears to seal Sir Charles' fate, and Agatha must uncover the truth before a net of skulduggery closes around him and he loses his ancestral home, his entire estate and his freedom. And if events weren't complicated enough, Agatha's ex-husband, James Lacey, is back in Carsely and back in Agatha's heart....

Agatha fans -Skip the Foreward and read when you have finished the book
I am a huge fan of Agatha Raisin and of Penelope Keith’s narration so was extremely sad to hear of M C Beaton’s passing.
Chapter 1 of the audio (foreword) is by R W Green and in my opinion should have been an afterword as the information it contained heavily influenced my listening of the story. So I would recommend that you skip it and listen to it at the end of the audiobook.
Having said that I still enjoyed Agatha’s antics and have been left wondering if we will see more of Agatha in the future...
if not, I still have the previous adventures to enjoy whilst feasting on my frozen single serves of microwaveable lasagne :-)

So sad to hear the end of Agatha!
I have read/ heard all of Agatha Raisin’s adventures and have thoroughly enjoyed each one. I shall miss hearing about the next one. This one was as tremendously enjoyable as the first one, The Quiche of Death, but as I listened I couldn’t stop thinking about how much I would miss both Agatha and M C Beaton, RIP M C you did us proud!

Not a bad effort
R W Green takes on the Agatha Raisin mantle here reasonably well but there are errors. MC Beaton herself forgot the name she gave to the character of the Vicar in Carsely's wife, in some novels calling her Sarah Bloxby and in others Margaret Bloxby. This wasn't picked up by the publishing house until late in the series, and remained, confusing the reader. Although in one of the later books this error was referred to and excused by saying that 'people called her either by her first name or second name'. Here RW Green refers to her as Margaret Bloxby.
He also describes Sir Charles Fraith in this book as having a tan, when readers of the complete Agatha Raisin series know that he is described previously as having the whitest skin which doesn't tan.
These might be small issues but they grate. Continuity is important in every story especially over a series. There are other errors made by MC herself in other Agatha adventures which were not picked up, but they are not relevant in this instance. Penelope Kieth does a good job of narration. If any more Agatha adventures pour forth from the pen of RW Green I sincerely hope he reads ALL of the series and takes notes.

Another good story told by Penelope Keith
I love Agatha Raisin and her adventures but I can’t imagine them without the wonderful Penelope Keith narrating. I order in advance if I know there’s another one coming and I listen to them many times over . It’s wonderful escapism please don’t let this be the last one

My favourite detective
I will miss Agatha, having read all the books in this series, it is sad that this is the final story. Co written by R W Green, this book excellently read by Penelope Keith has Agatha and friends up to their usual antics. Set against the backdrop of the horsey community it has all the trappings of glitz glamour and romance. There were odd time that the story felt like it was written by someone else but was still true Agatha.

A last farewell to Agatha
It’s a shame that this will be the last Agatha Raisin following the death of MC Beaton. I’ve read all of the books and enjoyed them immensely

Too many changes
I'm a big fan of Agatha Raisin and her friends. I was disappointed in the significant changes in the characters, relationships and individual habits and quirks of characters. Her abrasiveness and high morals are lacking in this book. James is always cold and aloof, even when he's interested in Agatha. I feel like my familiar old friends have been dumbed down and changed to attract a totally different audience from Marion Chesney's original intent. I understand it can't be easy writing on behalf of another author, but little details like who calls her Aggie, Agatha and Sweetie should be pretty straight forward to get right, and she never refers to people and cats as "guys". It just felt like a totally different series. I did want to find out who the killer was, however even that was a bit disappointing. Too many perpetrators made it a bit messy. I will forget about this book and try to keep my favourite characters alive in my memory instead. Good attempt, but it missed the mark for me.

This was not edited well
At one stage they confused the character names in a conversation. Character arcs did not fit with the rest of the series.
I’m sure the author tried their best but not as successful
