Publisher's Summary

A therapist moved into the village of Carsely, and Agatha Raisin hated her. Not only was this therapist, Jill Davent, romancing Agatha's ex-husband, but she had dug up details of Agatha's slum background.

Added to that, Jill was counselling a woman called Gwen Simple from Winter Parva, and Agatha firmly believed Gwen to have assisted her son in some grisly murders, although she has no proof she had done so.

A resentment is different from a dislike and needs to be shared, so as the friendship between James and Jill grows stronger, the more Agatha does to try to find out all she can about her. When Jill is found strangled to death in her office two days later, Agatha finds herself under suspicion - and must fight to clear her name.

Thank god for Penelope Keith

I loved “Dishing The Dirt” simply because it was read by Penelope Keith , who IS Agatha Raisin as far as I am concerned . After hearing the last book “ Blood of an Englishman” being read by someone else I was so disappointed that if that same person read this new novel , I wasn’t going to buy it . So I was very relieved to find Penelope Keith reading it and enjoyed it so much that I heard the whole novel in just 2 days .I am afraid I am biased and love all the Agatha Raisin novels including this one .

tosh but beautifully rendered

Wholly improbable nonsense based in the Cotswolds but Penelope is an absolute joy to hear

Becoming rather formulaic

There is nothing wrong with the story and certainly not Penelope Keith's telling of it but I felt more strongly than ever that M C Beaton is becoming repetitive and the stories follow a similar pattern in her recent works. There is no more character development and too many nod the cast remain very lightly drawn. It must be difficult to stay original after so many books but the series is going the wrong way.

Great Fun!!

If you could sum up Agatha Raisin: Dishing the Dirt in three words, what would they be?

Marvellous as always!

What was one of the most memorable moments of Agatha Raisin: Dishing the Dirt?

The ongoing torment of her relationship with her ex-husband, James.

What does Penelope Keith bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

She brings the characters to life- nobody does it better!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Definitely!

The epilogue as it was long and set the scene for the next book.

It kept me hooked.

Any additional comments?

Loved Penelope Keith as the narrator. Such a lovely and expressive voice. I want to listen to the first book now to see how it all started.

A comfortable listen

Well read, nice twists and turns and Agatha does what she does best in her mildly irritating way (who has an intuition that good and that many men asking them to dinner?)

Not happy.

What would have made Agatha Raisin: Dishing the Dirt better?

Telling everyone who the killer was in the last book in the book description!

Has Agatha Raisin: Dishing the Dirt put you off other books in this genre?

Giving away the murderer in the last book is a major downer!

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Anger! what idiot gives away whodunnits of the last book on the opening description!

Any additional comments?

Did I mention that it gives away the killer from the last book in its description?

Fun and enjoyable

Plot seemed to ramble quite a bit, but this latest Agatha Raisin mystery is as entertaining as the previous books in the series.
