Publisher's summary

What happens when all means of transportation and communication suddenly vanish? What happens when you can’t call for help? What happens when the only person you can rely on is yourself? What happens when an EMP sends Washington DC back into the stone age? Find out now with this collection of addictive EMP thrillers.

EMP No Power

An EMP explodes over Washington DC and the world comes to screeching halt. As society falls into disarray, Harper Murphy, a skilled army quartermaster/single mother, charges headlong into the escalating chaos to save the only thing she holds dear: her son. In a world rife with chaos, how far would a mother go to protect her family?

Hideaway

Losing power was only the beginning; now one couple must work together to survive.

James and Marla Weller are preparing for a relaxing weekend, when an unexpected blackout spreads far beyond their St. Louis suburb and starts a devastating chain reaction. But the disabled power grid was only the beginning of a national nightmare as their vehicles and cell phones won’t function either. A series of building explosions rock downtown, leading to a mandatory evacuation.

Amid the chaos, the young couple must make a decision on where to go. A possible solution emerges when a self-proclaimed survivalist offers them refuge in his remote cabin far from the city and away from the chaos. But James and Marla soon discover that survival isn’t as clear as they think, and that escape can lead to dangers all its own.

Re record this one please!

The woman who is reading this needs help... Did any one listen to this. It could be so much better. The stuff halting way she is reading this is aweful. I’m barely into it and I’m hoping it gets better.

Entertaining

Never having given thought to this type of apocalyptic event, I found these books entertaining and the characters mostly believable. I guess my summation would be: entertaining.

Rip Off

I bought a box set that was supposed to be 24 hours. About halfway through the whole thing repeated.

The stories have a decent storyline but now I’m aggravated.

Not worth it

Neither of the stories in this box set is worth the effort. First story the husband is an idiot. The woman doesn’t make smart decisions for a military woman. The narrator does not emote for the situations as she should. She always seems to talk as if whatever character is in a constant panic.
Second story the husband is a complete idiot in the choices he makes and the wife a whiner. Again with the narrator. I stuck with it just to have noise going but wish I had returned it early on.

Odd

I'm just not really keen on the narrator in general . . . can't really put my finger on why. Something about the story line is keeping me listening. Oddly compelling.

follow your notes and keep details straight

I truly wish writers could do some research and follow their own notes as to what equipment a character has between chapters. for instance at the end of 1 chapter he has 1 type of weapon and the very next chapter and same character has a totally different one. another chapter his Trans-am stated out as a 78' and was an 82', 2 chapters later. the details matter

Entertaining story

This audiobook is the story of life after an EMP attack on the USA. A preper and his wife helps the main character and his wife escape the city to their rural cabin. All is well until the convicts take over the prison and invade the surrounding area. The narrator does an good job of giving the characters their individual voices and keeps the story moving forward. There are no real surprises or twists in this story but it has likeable main characters and still manages to entertain.

Gore

Stopping at chapter 7. I'm not for listening to details of people's appearance after getting trampled in crowds, burned, and tear gassed. Just get to a story, the death details aren't needed

Horrible Narration, Mediocre Story

The narration of the first three books was off cadence, accenting the wrong words in sentences and resulting in confusing and frustrating listening. Imagine overdramatizing words not needing it and missing the words that did. Mispronunciations were also part of the frustration. For example, "pyre" was pronounced like "pier", then "pyre", then "pier", again. There were no piers in the book. I suppose the writer may have misspelled the words, but other words were also mispronounced. The final book of the first series was badly edited, again contributing to the general poor listening quality. I stuck it out, hoping the second series would be better, but the crazy punching of the wrong words continued even with a different narrator.

As for the books themselves, I wanted to love them. Female protagonist who's military, EMP, and she's not a fainting female all gave me great hope. But, the narration put the nails in the coffin. I returned the books and heaved a sigh of relief. thanks
