Publisher's summary

The best-selling first audiobook in the emotionally charged post-apocalyptic romance series, The Ending Series.

The virus spread. Billions died. The ending began. We may have survived the apocalypse, but the virus changed us.

When people started getting sick, they thought it was just the flu. My roommate, my boyfriend, my family ...they're all gone now. I got sick too. I should have died with them - with the rest of the world - but I didn't. I thought witnessing the human population almost disappear off the face of the earth was the craziest thing I'd ever experience. I was so wrong. My name is Dani O'Connor, I'm twenty-six-years-old, and I survived the ending.

The virus changed everything. The world I knew is gone, and life is backwards. We've all had to start over. I've been stripped of my home, my dreams ...all that is me. I'm someone else now-broken and changed. Other survivors' memories and emotions haunt me. They invade my mind until I can no longer separate them from my own. I won't let them consume me. I can't. My name is Zoe Cartwright, I'm twenty-six-years-old, and I survived the ending.

We've been inseparable for most of our lives, and now our friendship is all we have left. The aftermath of the virus has stranded us on opposite sides of the United States. Trusting strangers, making sacrifices, killing - we'll do anything to reach one another. Fear and pain may be unavoidable, but we're strong ...we're survivors. But to continue surviving in this unfamiliar world plagued by crazies and strange new abilities, we have to adapt. We have to evolve.

And more than anything, we have to find each other.

This audiobook contains some adult content and language.

Entertaining, yet missing post-apocalyptic flair. This is a ROMANCE! No survival issues at all.

A strange perspective stance in a post-apocalyptic world novel.

If you are looking for a survival end of the world novel, this isn’t it!

This is a ROMANCE novel with an end of the world sub-genre, and by sub-genre, I mean little tiny pieces of post-apocalyptic nuances thrown in to support new budding relationships and biological changes. All survival resources are easily obtained and pose no struggle. And everyone constantly drinks tea and alcohol without fear of dehydration.

It really bothered me that people barely expressed any real emotion other than what new partner they had their eye on or who had betrayed them. When nearly 90% of humans die it seems there would be a little more personal growth and a lot less stupid drama. Women were either evil or inherently good, but still fought over guys no matter which group they belonged to.

There were a couple things that became very annoying—the passing out and the dreams. Every time another wave of difficulty intercepted the a main character in the real world, the author made them pass out instead of experiencing the actual event that everyone else had to fight. Then the character would wake up from unnecessary dreams to find they were miraculously saved by their love interest. The dreams were important to a degree, but the majority consisted of irrelevant gobbledygook that made no sense and did nothing to contribute to the story.

The powers were interesting, but difficult to fully understand during the audiobook since telepathic communication was used so often.

Funny to say, but I’m going to listen to the next book and see what happens. Now I know what to expect since this is really only a strange romance novel.

Good premise

I really liked the premis of a major virus affecting the world's population, but started losing interest when the story seemed to be more about adolescent angst than the virus. I wasn't interested in their love lives and that was 90% of the story for the last 1/3 of the book.

Mixed feelings

I have mixed feelings on this book. There were times that I thought it was ridiculous but by the end I was pulled in and wanted to know more. The two main characters acted more like teens than twenty year olds or maybe twenty year olds are more angsty than I remembered. I won't say this is the next great American novel but it wasn't horrible either. Well ok, some parts were. It has some role your eyes erotica for sure. I fear I skipped those. Just too ridiculous by far. The happenstance of both characters connecting with military groups and both "finding" forbidden love was a it much. Ok? Yes it wasn't great. But I finished it and am thinking about getting the next one. So buyer be ware. If you are into chick flicks does post apocalyptic zombie sorta kinda stuff with a little over the top erotica this might just hook you in. Lol

An amazing series

I’m starting my second listen of this series. The world building was great, and overall, the series is excellent. Admittedly, one of the girls tends to sound/come off as young and a bit annoying in the beginning, but it quickly becomes a non issue. the cast of characters is large, and it’s really only one of the personalities that is a bit immature. The series will suck you in and I can’t recommend it enough.

Storyline yes; characters...meh

If I ever hear the phrase “baby girl” again I am going to go postal. Waaaay overused and phenomenally annoying. There are two main characters, Zoe and Danny. The voice for Danny is whiny and makes her seem closer to 16 than her mid-twenties. I love post apocalyptic stories so I managed to make it through. Don’t pay too much attention to this review. I like more mature, strong female leads and this didn’t hit that bar for me. One character, Chris, was the most realistic to me.

Great, but tone it down please.

This is a great story that keeps you engaged. The performance is really good too but the portrayal of Dani sounds like a combination of Betty Boop & a six year old. After a bit of teeth gnashing you get used to it.
