Interesting adventures

This book was very interesting, but I felt it was a bit too clinical with the detail and needed more depth to the individual stories talked about. Overall I would recommend it to adventurous people. The story telling I feel should have been done by a professional reader, Ed’s story telling was a bit too monotone for me and needed a bit more va va voom to prick up the senses. But I really enjoy your tv docs Ed.

a long list of travels by category

It maybe the book it better, but this is just a long list of travels by category, so not so much a personal account, more of a shopping list of places to visit. Each journey is given a star rating across a few categories. Trouble is they are all "5 star" so little point in ranking them really
It sounds as if you are being read to straight from the book

The second person narrative kills the story

The story may be fine but is written in the second person. You are camping, you hear a noise, you turn to look, you simply can’t take any more of it and promptly turn it off and go to something better.

The adventures would be much better if reported from people who have done the adventure.
