Critic reviews

"Lindsay C. Gibson, PsyD, gives practical insight into a prevalent problem.... The book is impeccably clear.... This utter lack of confusion makes the book quite soothing, despite the heavy subject." ( Foreword Magazine)

Needs a new narrator

I really wanted to get into this book and made it about halfway but in the end I have given up because I found the narrator’s voice so irritating. I really hate to be critical of someone’s voice because they were made that way, unique and all, but it’s just not for this format. It made it very difficult for me to digest what I was listening to (I do listen to audiobooks successfully elsewhere). I would recommend the author have it redone as the information - as much as I have thus gleaned - was helpful.

Life changing

I thoroughly enjoyed listening to my first Audible book!! This book was very informative and helped to unlock the reasoning behind so many of my emotions that I didn’t realize stemmed from childhood trauma. I recommend this book to anyone looking to find themselves and become better humans despite the dysfunctional upbringing they endured.

Life changing!

I don’t know how to write this review without it sounding hyperbolic. Reading it may be the single most important thing I will ever do for myself. This book has been the answer to the question I stopped asking a long time ago: why can’t I be happy? My whole life has had many variables but one constant, struggle. I have learned from this book why. I have been the sort of person that this book is squarely aim at helping and I am extremely grateful for it having been written and for my having found it. I just completed listening for the first time after digesting it’s lessons at my own pace as I see my reality shift and improve. The day after reading about “positive disintegration” I had one for myself and I was awakened by it. I was reborn by it. I will be reading this book over and over until I absorb every bit it has to offer. I have recommended it to many people in my life, as well as formed a small book club for it. Two actions I have never taken in my life before this. I hope this book reaches as many people as possible and does that same for them as it has done for me. This book doesn’t just deserve a glowing review, deserves missionaries and a Nobel prize.

Yes. This is the book you are looking for.

Unsure how to deal with some people at home, work, family, friends, church, or anywhere you encounter other humans? Well, this book may be for you! Gain incredible insights into the how and why you do what you do, understand what motivates other peoples actions and your responses to them, and start learning to live a better, happier, more balanced life.

Seriously, this is an excellent resource with many valuable stories that illustrate key concepts along the way. It’s not just about seeing other peoples flaws, or blaming parents, but understanding how to grow in emotional maturity yourself, and how to engage in healthy, happy, and productive relationships with people who are struggling with their own emotional maturity.
