Publisher's Summary

In 1947, witty, outspoken, irascible Dalton Trumbo (Academy Award-winning screenwriter of Roman Holiday and Spartacus) went to prison for defying the House Committee on Un-American Activities and became one of the famed Hollywood Ten. Through his wildly funny and thought-provoking correspondence, Trumbo's son has created a touching portrait of an extraordinary man.

really enjoyable treatment of Trumbo's life

so great to listen Trumbo's actual words. While his fight for justice has been told time and time again, this book reveals why he was such a special talent. Hopefully the long form book will also be released.

A True American

These letters from Dalton Trumbo--read by his son--show the essence of the man and his belief in and willingness to sacrifice for, the freedoms guaranteed by our constitution. Trumbo's perserverence, humor, and refusal to buckle (under threat of imprisonment for refusing to answer questions from congressional committees) remains an inspiration to us all.
