Publisher's summary

God is dead. Killer at large.

In a world filled with powerful witches and wizards, Professor Marcus Orren is about as magical as your average brick, leading to a life of rampant cynicism, coupled with mild-to-moderate alcohol abuse.

While his contemporaries are content in their sorcerous ways, Marcus dares to ask the important questions in life, such as: “How can a pyromancer summon fire without fuel and a spark?” or, “What, exactly, is so special about a simple chalk circle that people assume it will ever turn iron into gold?”

His latest theory, an academic rebuttal of a God named Tomas, stands so air-tight that the Universe itself is forced to agree, promptly erasing the actual Tomas straight from existence. Unfortunately for Marcus, there are hundreds of Gods roaming the heavens above, and nearly all are the type to hold a grudge.

I found chapters mixed up and missing.

I was a bit confused halfway in when it seemed like a chapter was skipped, but now I'm frustrated that it completely replaced one in the finale and I now don't understand the end fully.

The story in it self is very entertaining.

A very fun book

While not normally my first choice in book, “Ad Hominem” surprised me with a very interesting story and well developed characters. The whole book had me entertained and laughing throughout. Joel Simler did an absolutely incredible job of bringing the voices to life and I couldn’t imagine a person better fitted to the role. All in all, with an especially fitting epilogue, it was a fun ride. Definitely will recommend!

Fun Listen

This book surprised me with its unique characters and twist on gods. The narrator did a fantastic job bringing the characters to life. It was a fun listen and kept my attention.

Ya know what I mean?

Great story! Great narrator! My only complaint is that there wasn’t another 5 hrs of the book.

listened for the second and it was much better

It's chapter 39 I think. if you are here looking for what chapter is missing it's 39 then you go back. but besides that it's a good story. it's not laugh out loud funny but I enjoyed it none the less.
