Publisher's summary

An international best seller

With translations in more than thirty languages, Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man is the definitive relationship guide for women.

Steve Harvey can't count the number of impressive women he's met over the years - the many incredible women who can run a business, have three kids, maintain a household in tiptop shape, and chair a church group all at the same time. So when it comes to relationships, why can't these same women figure out what makes men commit? According to Steve, it's because they're asking other women for advice when they should be going directly to the source. In this expanded edition, Steve includes an added section of all new advice, with tips on dealing with your partner's exes, spicing up your relationship, ensuring you're ready for that walk down the aisle, and much more.

Sometimes funny, often unflinchingly direct, but always truthful, Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man is a book you must listen to if you want to understand how men think when it comes to relationships, intimacy, and love.

Worth a listen

I had mixed feelings about getting this book from some of the negative reviews. One of my friends recommended it to me so, with the audible return policy in mind, I purchased it.
I am an educated professional woman and did NOT find this to be "too 1950s". I feel that I gained some understanding into the way many males approach dating. I will listen to it again

I wish I'd known this years ago

I feel like I've just finished a college course on relationships, where was this book when I was dating?. I recommend this book be read by all adolescents and used as a road map. I'm a 70 year old who has been married twice. I recognized myself doing so many things to sabotage my relationship and my happiness. Steve Harvey has an outstanding insight into people. This book was eloquently written, filled with down to earth advice, well read and
a pleasure to listen to.

Harvey is onto something here

Though this book is written primarily for women, its popularity made me curious to see if it could provide any new perspectives on dating as a whole. And honestly, I feel like it not only did that but also reaffirmed some of my preexisting ones.

For example, Harvey explains how every man wants, more than anything, to be able to “profess, provide, and protect;” to tell everyone about his woman, to provide for his woman, and to keep his woman safe. Harvey hits the nail on the head here — that’s exactly what we want to do.

One of the most interesting things about the book, for me, was Harvey’s statements on how modern life is getting in the way of these “3 P’s.”

That is, many women these days are strong and can provide for themselves. To this, Harvey says (and I’m paraphrasing), “We men have no problem at all when women are strong or successful, but if they have their own houses, dogs, security systems, and an affinity for independence, then we’re going to stop coming around, because we won’t feel like we matter anymore.” Ding, ding, ding.

Ladies, these aren’t just wise words, they’re also an accurate depiction of how many men feel these days. We want to be supported and loved, but we also want to protect and provide for you (on some level — doesn't have to be everything). Take that away from us, and we’ll feel like we’re no longer needed.

So, whether you’re looking for some new perspectives on dating or are just curious to see what all the hype is about this book, definitely give it a read. You’ll find those perspectives, and then some. I highly recommend it.

Really really good book!

I would highly suggest that any woman who is either in a relationship or thinking of being in a serious one or single listen to this and take it to heart. Great insight into men. Changes the way I go about my relationship now.

Insight

I loved it and everything in it told me I was the man in the relationship and he is the female. this was the best insight for correcting my mistakes in my past hands down.

practical relationship advice

I found it very useful. Good stuff. However it would have been much more enjoyable had it been narrated by Steve Harvey himself.
